Two jets flew over today and I'm pretty sure they were in afterburner, which I didn't know they were allowed to do. Shit was loud. I woke up from it thinking Oh No not again thinking a jet was about to crash. They were either F-15's from Eglin, F-35's from Eglin, or F-18's from Pensacola. But I doubt it was the Blue Angels since they aren't doing anything until March

If their ABs were online, you'd have heard a sonic boom, they never use afterburners at subsonic speeds. Military turbojets are just loud as fuck, heard one take off from a military base, it was like 5 commercial jets all at once in one plane.
If you wanna talk about military aircraft in weird situations, i've had a Chinook do a low pass over my house. It was probably 500-1,000 ft up, and jesus fuck it was loud, it rattled the house.

It was probably F-15's from Eglin. I did my flight training over at the Destin airport across from Eglin, and my flight instructor was a former F-14 pilot who would always let me know when they were using AB's, assuming I somehow couldn't tell over the roar of their engines. .
I've also heard a story that a F-15 or a F-16 from Eglin went supersonic a few feet off the water in Choctaw bay, and it blew out some windows too. Don't know how true that is though.

The Civvie air patrol in Destin FL likes to run old MI-8's, and sometimes a Huey they got from Jamaica; they do sub 500 foot passes over the beaches during spring break, probably to blow the tops off girls there.
