Purely depends on the type of aircraft they're firing at. I have no idea what year the image was taken, but if they were to be firing at a low flying helicopter, then odds are a bullet or two would hit something important, or even the pilot. I have heard of some German dive bombers and fighters occasionally being shot down by either stray or purposely fired bullets from infantry when they were flying low enough. One man firing at a plane would have to have incredible luck to do any damage other than scratch the paint, at best, but with a number of men firing like in the image, the chances of doing something is at least higher, if not definite.
IIRC the Red Baron was killed by a rifle bullet to the chest while flying over an open field. [editline] today [/editline] Checked it out right quick, i was mistaken.
well yeah my standard "non-shit" monitor resolutions so far have been 1280 x 1024 and 1366 x 768 and everything else is superbig thank you. just when did monitors get this humongous? 1600x1200 was big just a few years ago i'm sure those are Warlords actually
Betting on Reaver here.
IIRC the Red Baron was killed by a rifle bullet to the chest while flying over an open field. [editline] today [/editline] Checked it out right quick, i was mistaken.
Though the Red Baron wasn't, early aircraft in WWI were often shot down with small arms fire because the aircraft then were so flimsy and had to fly relatively low compared to later planes made in the 20th century. The only reason I didn't mention those was because the picture we're talking about has to have been taken at least in the 1930s, where those planes were long obsolete. The Reaver is the biggest titan capable of using CCW's.
if the CCW doesn't count, everything about the one getting punched matches the old Warlord though. note the head, shoulders and the design of the leg armor [t]http://sho3box.files.wordpress.com/2009/08/warlord-titan-front.jpg[/t] and this is how the Reaver titans of the same era looked [t]http://images.dakkadakka.com/gallery/2009/5/24/1135-Copyright%20Games%20Workshop,%20Epic,%20Reaver,%20Retro%20Review,%20Rogue%20Trader,%20Titan.jpg[/t] the CCW could be there because the artist decided "ye lets give em fuks mad big chainsaws", disregarding 40k's already Rule of Cool-heavy lore for even more Rule of Cool

Now, imagine that on even a Reaver titan, you could destroy several hab blocks with a single strike. Now, going with rule of cool and fuck everything and the standard rules, imagine a Thunder Hammer on a massive Imperator Titan, the biggest of them and the size of mountains. You could probably easily level a whole Hive layer that way, if not the whole Hive.
Would that even be effective
Not really. They were probably trying to kill a recon aircraft, which were typically very lightly armored aircraft, sometimes biplanes. Only way they could damage or knock out a fighter or bomber was if they took down a control surface, severed a wire to control surfaces, or hit the engine block, but all of that would be close to impossible to do to an aircraft at 3,000 meters flying at 200+mph. Your average 7.62x54r isn't going to do a whole lot to penetrate the armor of your typical aircraft after it loses a shitload of it's velocity flying 3,000 meters upwards. WWII era aircraft were armored to protect the pilot so shit like that wouldn't happen.

I like it a lot
reminds me of something I'd make in minecraft
It looks very unreal, like it's from a game.
