I love it when people make working homes out of small spaces, especially if there's bits that fold out/in.
I recall seeing a few videos on FP a while ago about this sort of thing, and one of them was about this small room a guy turned into a fully functioning home. It had a window that looked directly out onto the street as the room was actually a storage room and was lower than most. Can anyone post it?
I've gone and scanned them all and stuck them in this album:

The call number is proprietary/not public but on the other hand it's from the early nineties. Either way I wouldn't be so flippant about uploading documents without doing research first. It's this btw.

i swear i thought this picture was a game picture. the stealth bomber's "texture" looks so "low res" for some reason.

it looks like something straight out of half-life 2. reminds me of some combine textures a lot.
i swear i thought this picture was a game picture. the stealth bomber's "texture" looks so "low res" for some reason.
It's because of the coating on the B2. It's covered in some sort of material that absorbs radar waves and doesn't allow them to bounce off the aircraft. Because of that, it looks like a low-res black-grey texture from the 90's.
No, that would work just like it's pictured. It spins, and the centrifugal force would pull occupants toward the outside, or the 'ground' that is the inside wall of the cylinder. If it spun faster you could get more than 1G, and slower would net you less than 1G, so that means you could tailor the artificial gravity to your own desires when making one.
If anyone likes spacey books that deal with that stuff, 2312 by Kim Stanley Robinson is kind of a muck-through type of book, but has a decent bit of stuff like that in it... a city of Mercury that stays ahead of the sun by way of a equatorial track that pushes it along as the sun expands the rails, etc.. plus asteroids hollowed out and terraformed just like that picture has up there, which artificial sun and spun up for gravity. Cool stuff.
You have to have gravity to begin with for that to spin and make people stick to the ground around the outsides as it spun... That would just spin and everyone would float, unless it's spinning vertically, rather than rotating like a wheel. You would have to grab and hang onto it, and the 'gravity' you'd feel would be like if you grabbed one of the walls in your room. Not like a floor.
Take a paper towel roll. Spin it, put an M&M in the middle. It just floats in the middle, not stick to the side, unless you taped it to the side. Because they're both in a different inertia frame, and it isn't centrifugal force that would put them in the same frame. Now if you had columns extending from the outside towards the center, you could stand on those thanks to the rotation

You would just have to hold onto the walls as they slowly began to speed up. As they accelerated you would be push against the walls and gain gravity.

It's not exactly hard
Both of you are correct! without some way for the bodies that would be experiencing the gravity to spin up to the same speed as the outer wall they'd just float. So you'd just have to figure out how to do that. What an engineering pandora's box.

I'd say maximum probably five miles but i'm not the best with eyeballing distances. Close enough to shell the fuck out of the whole area.

They are also firing their guns way to close to those LC's... and are just way to close to each other in general.

It looks like one of them would be shooting into the back of another at a few points.
