I don't know why but watching this is so relaxing.
speese pics
Still boggles my mind that there is so much out there, with so many possibilities and were just a tiny speck that could be obliterated tomorrow and nothing would be truly impacted.
I also wonder how space can be "infinite" as obviously I can't imagine infinity and it makes me wonder if there is an "edge" to the universe, because surely there can't be infinite material to have stars and such? Also I am extremely curious as to what there was before the big bang, I mean was it literally just an empty black void? It makes me want to know how that giant black vacuum that is space came to be, because think about that, can it truly just be endless void forever in any direction? It just keeps piling questions upon questions about the existence of the universe and it makes me sad because I know I will never know any of the answers I want to know.

I've said it before, but if things like galaxies and nebulae make you feel small, then try not to have an existential crisis reading about either the Sloan Great Wall or the CMB Cold Spot/Eridanus Supervoid.
To paraphrase myself on that last one, you could travel at twice the speed of light from one side of the void to the other and in that time, you would not only see every possible generation of human die, you would see all life on board die off, then reform itself in a chance reaction and evolve back to sentience. And then you'd pass an atom outside and realise that you're finally about 5/6ths of your way through the supervoid.

Well, you might just live to see it, because scientific and technological progress right now is fast as balls, and it's only getting faster. Assuming we don't get set back majorly by some kind of massive disaster, you and I both will probably live to see either functional agelessness/immortality, or this question answered before we croak.
Looking at all that we accomplished over the last century, I wouldn't be surprised if we figured out how the universe began with more certainty within this century. That, or if we figured out how to delay, defy or bypass aging, through cloning, gene manipulation or robotics.
Science is surprisingly fast to develop, even in spite of bureaucracy, greed and stupidity. Science gives no shits.
It was done with quite amatuer and old equipment since I don't have much as far as money goes.
But it was a pentax k30 mounted onto a Meade 6" f8 Newtonian reflector on a Losmandy CG 11 Mount.
There was 50-ish photos taken at 6400 iso at a shutter speed of 30 seconds. In post processing these images were stacked with DeepSkyStacker and touched up in photoshop cs6.
Hope that helps
Thank you so much! Magnificent work.

I can't get enough of this song. I love songs where the lyrics actually tell a tale.

Heh, I actually first thought they were Mi-Go aswell.
The painting is called "Yithian Temporal Communicator". So I assume they are Yith.

I don't want to open an extra thread for this and this seems like the nicest and best place to ask for this:
Getting some ideas for a new tattoo, I was wondering how good or bad can you move around in a space suit? Sure, none of us has experience, but what do you guys think based on footage and pictures? I don't mean the ones like the A7L from the Apollo 11 mission, because that looks too chunky to move around easily (and what I've seen from the footage it looks like you can walk around easily, but anything than that would be difficult) but other suits or unused designs.
I'm also looking for nice astronaut art you guys have, especially digging some 50s/60s designs, thanks guys :)
Damn, that's some sexy Lovecraft art.

Dead Space suits in general are pretty neat.

The extra features on Gravity had some stuff about space suits. Basically you have very limited movement, the ones used in the movie were redesigned to allow the actors to flail around.

Not to be pessimistic but I highly doubt we will achieve immortality anytime soon and even if we did it would be through some very expensive and/or extremely difficult and/or resource heavy procedure that wouldn't even be available to an average joe such as myself.
On top of that be careful of what you wish for, we have no clue how to travel into space long distances so our area to live in is definitely finite, and even with a death toll we are having over population problems. Where would we keep the new generations of humans if the old ones do not die off? So even if we achieve immortality/agelessness we wouldn't be able to practically apply it without major consequences that would force us to pick and choose who would get to live or die. And honestly I don't think anyone has that right.

On the up side NASA and other big players in space related tech advancement would immediately get an unlimited budget to find a solution and get bases set up on the moon and mars. Think how quickly space tech and knowledge would increase with the governments of the world putting all their cash and time into finding a way to move as many people off of Earth as possible as quickly as possible. It would be like the space race all over again but this time for the survival of the human race.

It's nowhere near as big as those and I forget what it was called but I remember reading awhile back about this massive glob of water floating in space that was bigger than our entire solar system if I recall correctly.

I could have sworn it specifically said water and not water vapor but I'm not finding anything else so that must be it.
I don't think it is possible for it to be in liquid form, most of the water in the universe is either ice because it is fucking cold or vapor in this instance because it is near a large energy source.
