The Soviets also liked the P-39 and it was a colossal piece of shit. The only reason they liked American stuff was because it was built with decent build quality and had crew comforts Politburo engineers didn't see as necessary. The M4's were roomy by normal tank standards and the P-39's had closed cockpits and cabin heat which your I-16 or I-15 did not have. Other than that, the P-39 and M4's were absolutely awful on all fronts but the Soviets liked them because they were marginally better than what the Soviets were fielding at the time.
The only real advantage the M4 had was a higher top speed (due to it's absolute lack of armor and armament) and the numbers at which they could be built.
Well of course, the ammo cook problem being fixed doesn't make up for the armor and armament disadvantage, I was just pointing out that the Sherman wasn't as extremely shitty as people think. The Sherman was fairly matched against the Panzer IV, the core of the German Panzer Divisions. The Tank Destroyer Battalions were meant to take on the Panthers and Tigers.

Holy goddamn, I love this kind of photos. I wish I had the money to travel to places like that. Seeing something like this irl is the equivalent of having your soul cleansed of everything bad that ever happened.
Congrats!

I knew I had one of these books lying around. I had the Dorling Kindersley children's illustrated encyclopedia.
Here's a pic from 'Classic Aircraft Fighters' by Bill Gunston.

If you're really into those, I'd highly recommend 'Classic World War II Aircraft Cutaways' by Bill Gunston also.
I'm really curious what plane that is, Mustang MK1a? Kinda also looks Hurricane-ey.
it's a hurricane mk2c
My favourite thing is when people make cross-sections for fictional things.
