The origins and literal linguistic meaning of country names.
Jesus fuck I just realized that us Newfoundlanders are blunt people.
Think about it. What does Newfoundland mean? It's kinda funny.
I keep bees and it's the season they split and form their own colonies so i took some pictures since they kinda formed in a strange shape
"Iran" is the name that was switched during the 30s. It's probably taking from its earlier name of "Persia"
Iran has pretty much always been called Iran (or Ērān, Ērānšahr, etc.). Persia was mainly a name used by foreigners iirc.
This map looks a bit weird/innacurate though. Like Romania should be the "Roman Realm", not Bulgaria.
The thing about radiation in nature that might mislead some people about its impact on the environment is that man-made radioactive elements are incredibly easy to detect in nature. They stick out like a sore thumb to modern scientific detectors, and because this it requires a very small amount to be detectable. An area may be contaminated by radioactive material, but it could be by an utterly insignificant amount.

The name of Albania is White Mountain while my country's name stands for Black Mountain.

Mohammad Reza Shah insisted on promoting a pre-Islamic national identity for Iran, playing up the idea that Persia had been the longest consistently sovereign space in history, blah blah blah, mainly because the Iranian ulama was the most coherent political threat to his despotism and because a more aggressively secular and mythologized national identity stroked his ego and facilitated American backing of his regime.

Persia is also probably a Greek/Roman exonym

I already laugh at them, all the power in the world can't help shitty drivers/shitty optimization.
Not saying they have shitty drivers, just making that a point.

When clock speed was all the rage (for marketing reasons) it led to Intel CPUs having to spend one clock cycle just waiting for the signal to go from one end of the chip to the other :v:
So more GHz isn't automatically better, it depends on how you use them.
what's a clock cycle?
what's a clock cycle?
We're horrible people, aren't we.
what's a clock cycle?
A 1 GHz CPU has one billion cycles per second, which means it does one billion "things" per seconds (for example fetch the next instruction, execute the instruction, store the result in memory, rinse and repeat).
If the clock speed is too high then there isn't enough time for the information to arrive where you need it to, so you have to wait one additional cycle before you can process it.
Think of it as an assembly line: you can make the machines work twice as fast, but the conveyor belt still has a limited speed.
