The godrays are created by the clouds of course but it's also a special time of the year in Greece. The farmers are illegaly burning down their fields after the harvest so pretty much all of the area constantly smells like smoke and you can hear sirens every 2 to 3 hours, especially in the morning so yeah it's this smoke that creates this too.

Are you sure that's Mt.Olympus? Because that mountain is like 2.1km, and those looks like small hills.
Sweet pics though, I love godrays.
It's somewhere in the mountainrange, not sure wich one but there was a sign at the highway pointing it out and google imagesearch for Mt. Olympus shows the same mountains.

Cheapo $150 80mm refractor w/ motor drive that cost about $30. The camera was by far the most expensive part, a sony A560 that goes for around $750
As far as telescopes go, $150 is on the lower end of the spectrum.
