Going to be unreal when it runs out. Economic dependence on non-renewable resources is scary.
“Alienation as we find it in modern society is almost total… Man has created a world of man-made things as it never existed before. He has constructed a complicated social machine to administer the technical machine he built. The more powerful and gigantic the forces are which he unleashes, the more powerless he feels himself as a human being. He is owned by his creations, and has lost ownership of himself."
.45 ACP is differant than 6.8 spc and the whole mechanism works with the way the stock aligns the barrel to the shoulder to push all recoil directly downwards and backwards, rather than just backwards and upwards. The way it is in that concept piece wouldn't work. Theres also a reason theres not a military on the planet thats currently using the Vector, and probably another reason why Kriss can't figure out how to get the vector to work in 9mm and .40S&W. Convoluted designs like that are always bad for military use anyways. When a soldier can go weeks or even months without a chance to clean his weapon, complicated designs are bad for said soldier's health. Theres a reason why weapons like the G-11 never made it into production.
Jesus Christ why can't you just enjoy the pictures
Going to be unreal when it runs out. Economic dependence on non-renewable resources is scary.
Don't know why people keep thinking this, but specifically Dubai has almost completely eliminated it's dependence on oil. Almost all of the money it gets now is secured through real estate/tourism/general trading. I think wikipedia has a slightly outdated statement on the matter you can read up on that explains it in whole. And even then, the oil is probably going to last another few centuries, which then they can also use to further invest into other means of economic growth.
We can build fusion reactors, but modifying guns to fire other rounds? No fucking way, are you crazy?
He designated the rifle as 7.62x51 but had a 5.45x39 magazine in it. Fusion reactors are cool but you're not going to fit a 7.62NATO round inside of a 5.45 magazine, physics just don't work like that.
Anyone has this gif of a woman sitting down underneath her porch, browsing on her tablet, and with some guy in the background reading a book? It has been posted earlier, and I want to use that image for some inspiration for Hammer.

The original ending to World War Z (2013)
The plane Gerry and Segen board is bound for Moscow. Upon safely landing, everyone on board is rounded up by the military. The elderly and the sick are executed and the healthy people, including a very shaken Gerry, are immediately drafted into armed service, though not before one particularly nasty Russian soldier takes Gerry’s cell phone. The story then jumps forward an unknown amount of time and we catch up with Gerry, who now has a full beard and has been a part of Russia’s zombie-clearing squad at least long enough for it to have changed to winter.
Otherwise, we'd basically have colonies consisting of greenhouses. Also, the lower gravity would screw up your health big time. Unless we could somehow build an enclosed artificial environment that simulates Earths gravity/atmospheric pressure 100%.
Looks like something out of the Berserk manga. I'm sure these have been posted as well somewhere in the past.
You know I think this is going to be a reality before 2023. It may look closer to a 416 or M16A4 in the real world, but it'll be chambered in 6.8 for sure. The military is already looking to adopt it. Not that 5.56 isn't good enough, its problem is it's too good. Small profile and extremely high velocity means while it has great penetration power, accuracy and range, it's less lethal than a .40 out of your glock traveling at a third the speed. So a fatter round means more oomph. And slightly more accuracy and range because of its weight
Nope. It stopped spinning which meant its protective magnetic field vanished and the planet was no longer protected from sun exposure. The atmosphere and surface have taken a massive beating since then.
I would say that an equatorial rotational velocity of 241.17 m/s would suggest that it spins.
I would say that an equatorial rotational velocity of 241.17 m/s would suggest that it spins.
He's saying that the core itself stopped spinning, not the planet. Our electromagnetic field exists because of the liquid outer core spinning around the solid inner core, and I believe it would have been the same for Mars.
I wonder if it could also be possible to alter the planets rotation and axial tilt to simulate earth-like seasons and a 24 hour day.
Altering essentially anything about a planets orbit or rotation is monumentally impractical with our current level of technology. Theoretically yes you could, but it would require a massive amount of energy. Relevant:
I wonder if it could also be possible to alter the planets rotation and axial tilt to simulate earth-like seasons and a 24 hour day.
Well, the energy equation is going to be big: E_rotational=(1/2)*I*w^2 Where: I=moment of inertia around the axis of rotation, w=angular velocity For a sphere I=(8/15)*Roh*Pi*r^5 Roh=Mass/Volume=M/((4/3)*Pi*r^3) For Mars: w = (2*Pi)/(24*60*60) = 1.212×10^-6 Rad Roh = 3934 Kg.m^-3 (I Googled it) r = 3396.2 km = 3396200 m I = (8/15)*3934*Pi*3396200^5 = 2.978*10^36 m^4 E_rotational = (1/2)*(2.978*10^36)*(1.212×10^-6)^2 = 2.88*10^24 J That is a quite a bit of energy. According to Wolfram Alpha that is 56x the total fossil fuel energy reserves of earth or 523000 gigatonnes of nuclear weapons.
[thumb]http://media.licdn.com/media/p/1/005/015/1d3/2515712.png[/thumb] soon
I looked at this backwards and got sad because I thought it was how Earth would eventually end up.
