Yeah, and even for this day, germans are not that welcome in Lapland. They call them as "Lapland's burners"

The Germans were in the north fighting the Soviets alongside the Finns, but the Finns signed that treaty with Ivan and kicked the Germans out. Germans burned down every village on their way out of Finland to try and keep the Finns off their heels, and also as vengeance for attacking a medical convoy that had wounded in it.

To be fair, classic churches are really cool buildings.
Living in the ass end of no where in rural New England, we have a lot around from way back when. I used to be a regular churchgoer and always loved the way they were built. Still do to this day.

Didn't the kitten run away a while ago, causing koko to actually weep very loudly, even hearable outside of the facility?

such sad irony, the man who just wouldn't die in combat against nazis, commies and the NVA, was ultimately done in by foggy weather

The SS had huge foriegn divisions, taking in anyone, Scandinavians, Muslims, Indians, anyone who wanted to fight under the lightening bolts could. It's not at all an oddity that a Finn would want to fight against he Soviets with the Germans once his country pussied out.

I'm fairly certain Törni did not fight in the Lapland War.

It's also been questioned whether or not he actually saw any action after moving to Germany for the training.

Nope, but he fought the russians in a german unit in germany in the closing stages of ww2
later he surrendered to the western allies, escaped a POW camp and emigrated to the US

He returned to Finland before that though, was imprisoned for a while, got pardoned, and moved to Sweden and to the US from there.
