It's one of the many many many photo-edits done by Soviet journalists and photographers to make things seem more glorious than they actually were. The raindeer was indeed shell shocked and it hung around Soviet soldiers when air raids were going on, but thats where the truth stops in the photo. The aircraft are RAF hurricanes edited in, and the explosion in the background is from a bomb detonation from a previous photo. The name of the "Photographer" who took this was Yevgeny Khaldei, and he was the same "photographer" who took the picture of the raising of the flag over the Reichstag, which that photo is ALSO a complete lie!

Can't think why, though.

Especially with the Soviets.
I feel like maybe you're one of those angry "America is the best everywhere else is therefore evil by default" types. Can't think why, though.
Erm, no. I'm heavily critical of the US' actions post WWII, just as much if not more so than the Soviet's actions during the war. If anything I'm fanatical about Germany and Switzerland (FFS my avatar is an FW-190). And if for some reason you're think I'm lying to push some agenda of "sovits r bad" and there was no photo manipulation whatsoever during the war, you're very wrong. Heres some FINE examples of Soviet photo manipulation Manipulated photo Original Looks like the SS are hanging a-...
So were those durring war propaganda photoshops or an after war thing?
Most likely both, probably half and half. Photos of Wehrmacht troops that were taken by German photographers probably wouldn't have been easy to come by until after the war. Post WWII, the Soviets completely demonized German soldiers, and that includes the Luftwaffe, Panzer corps, and the Wehrmacht, even though they weren't responsible for many war crimes. A good example of this would be Erich Hartmann. He's the highest scoring Ace of all time, with over 350 kills in the air. He fought mainly on the eastern front and on the last day of the war he shot down a Yak-9 fighter. After the war, the soviets pinned a mass execution on him he had absolutely nothing to do with and charged him with "destroying 345 expensive aircraft". This was mostly because he refused to serve the East-German airforce. They sent him to work in labor camps for the next ten years until a prisoner trade was made and he was sent to West-Germany. There he served in the West-German airforce until his retirement.

Reminds me of that picture from the Vietnam war with the Vietnamese general executing a mass murderer, and everyone thought that he was executing an innocent person because no one ever bothered to tell the actual story behind the photo.
I think we all can agree, that photo and info manipulation is bad. Even on my facebook, everyday I see some ridiculous manipulation, whether it's about the 2nd Amendment, Guns, Obama, the NSA, Anti-Gay campaigns, etc. Most of them are proven false. It surprises me how gullible people are and how quick they get from an average reader to a person who demands revenge and death on the spot.
People are fucking morons. It's depressing we're part of the same species
Jesus GifCam is awsome.
Jesus GifCam is awsome.
I used it and was concerned about the file size. Apparently I shouldn't be if we're going to be posting GIFs like that.

How about a typeface made from photographs looking up at buildings? Apparently, photoshop was used in a few cases, but nice nonetheless.
Damn, apparently that was late content. Sorry about that. Let me make it up with this interesting piece of history:
Here is an interesting story. It really happened in the southern part of the Netherlands where most people are Catholic. The place is Roermont. It has a cemetery with a very large burial site for the Catholics and a small area for Protestants. However the Protestants are separated with a tall brick wall. Jewish people have their own place towards the back, also with a tall brick wall. In 1842 a twenty-two year old Catholic woman of nobility (J.W.C. van Gorkum) married a colonel in the Dutch Cavalry. He was not of nobility and was Protestant as well. That must have been the scandal of the century in Roermont. However, the marriage had lasted almost forty years, when the colonel died. Eight years later the woman past away also. She had refused to be laid to rest in the family's large tomb and, instead, had ordered the monument that you can still see today. She lies on one side of the wall, he on the other, still holding hands.
I stumbled upon a bunch of rare historical photos. Reminds me of one of those Astral Monsters from Allods Online. They also float on meteroids through the astral, which would be something like the space.
i made this and since you guys post art all the time in the thread i tought it'd be appropriate.
What is that thing? Whatever it is, I hope you draw something that can destroy it. Edit The earth is at stake.
