It makes you wonder how we actually went downhill from the Roman era.
It makes you wonder how we actually went downhill from the Roman era.
You're typed that on a computer. In what way did we go downhill?
You're typed that on a computer. In what way did we go downhill?
In the years up until the Renaissance.
It makes you wonder how we actually went downhill from the Roman era.
Yes I wish we could go back to the good old days. Over crowding, diseases, lack of proper housing, barbarian invasions, barbarians burning and salting our farmland, apartments collapsing because they're built with wood and shit bricks, rebellions, corrupt and ruthless politicians, you know the good old days. I'd rather be in my air conditioned, well maintained, fire-safe apartment rather than living in a 3 story tall building made of rotted timber and shit bricks with no running water, no bathroom, no windows, and is prone to collapse at any moment.
You're typed that on a computer. In what way did we go downhill?
I was meaning we seemingly went downhill, for a very long time, until a couple of hundred years ago. Why didn't we advance on what they had back then?
Rome had running water and bathrooms.
The apartment complexes they built to deal with over crowding typically didn't. For the buildings that had running water, the top floors rarely did have running water or even bathrooms.

Just couldn't let that planet be doomed. Edit: The other option was for the earth to punch-out the creature with boxing gloves. Edit: I did it anyway. The vast majority of the Roman Empire's population lived outside the city. It was that way for every civilization before Rome and after until the Industrial Revolution when European populations began to migrate from the country into the cities. One mistake people make when interpreting history is to assume that technological and social progress is a given, and that anything that doesn't advance that progress is inherently bad. They often argue that if it weren't for the Dark Ages (as they call it) we would have moon bases by now. But there's no way to prove that, and it's wrong to blame our ancestors for it. History does not progress in a steady upward curve of technological and social development. History is more complex than that.

If my ancestors weren't busy spending time at the local Inn drinking with whore 300 years ago I could be Bruce Wayne now!
