I wish I had the skill and patience to color old photos. I would spend most of my spare time bringing everything into color.

Within hours of Executive Order 10730 being signed by President Dwight D. Eisenhower, 1,000 Soldiers of the 327th Airborne Battle Group deployed to break the blockade keeping the students from entering the school.
I wish I had the skill and patience to color old photos. I would spend most of my spare time bringing everything into color.
The photos he posted aren't recolored, they're actually original color photos. IIRC, the way they were taken was by using three different colored negatives and then overlaying them over each other to make a color photo. Thats why in some photos theres a discolored outline on some objects and why the water looks oily.

I'm gonna re-post my Grandfathers photo album from WWII. This is my Grandfather (On the right) This photo was taken after a firefight in the Philippines. He never wore his Ranger patch on his uniform, because if he was captured, he would have been executed on the spot for being a Ranger. He fought with the US rangers in the pacific. He was drafted into the military when he was 26 years old. He had all the credentials needed to become an officer, but he had poor vision in one of his eyes when he was hit with a rock as a child, so he failed his officer exams. This is his photo album from the war, he fought in Okinawa, the Philippines, Tarrawah, Manilla, and was stationed in Japan after the war ended. Cleared bunkers Part of his squad When they first started fighting, they were issued M1 Thompson submachine guns, which were extremely heavy. Their missions required them to be light, so they traded out their M1 Thompsons for M1 carbines the first chance they got. He was one of the toughest people I ever met, and I regret not being able to write his stories down (I can post some of the stories I remember if you'd like). I've heard stories from my uncles about how the war affected him. He used to have nightmares about it, saying he could vividly remember 32 faces of people he killed. Even though he was horribly traumatized by the war, he still remains the toughest and strongest person I've ever known. Even when he was well into his 80's, he still had the energy to do hand stands and play full contact football with me and my cousins. My Grandfather died about 13 years ago at the age of 92 from Alzheimer disease.
Akihabara, circa 1983. There's still a good number of electronics shops in Akiba but oh god did the anime crowd overrun the area.
And right behind that last photo is the Sega building. Went down that exact road once. Pretty much every second building is full of either anime, video games or flip-phones.
The backroads of Akhiabara has some really good computer shops tho. Mad prices too, I picked up a 2GB version of the 560ti for just $100. A large number of those electronics end up in Heave- I mean Hard Off. [t]https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/32814946/6562517-Hard-Off-0.jpg[/t] IIRC Wednesdays are the collection days for Electronic garbage, so on Tuesday nights dumpster divers go out hunting for electronics, fix them up and sell them at Hard Off.
sure dump out all that junk and its yours
There's not a single good lens in there?
They all appear to be shitty kit lenses or cheap zoom lenses. Nothing of real value.
Those plastic variable aperture zoom lenses from the 80s and early 90s when AF was a new thing are mostly junk, they went cheap on everything so they were affordable and had autofocus compatibility. I'd like to dump it out and look for some old 60/70s fast primes though, those are always nice.

Near the section with those boxes there will always be a glass display case with "non-junk" Lenses and Cameras and that's where the golden stuff usually are. But they do their research on those so the prices are expensive. Though usually cheaper than online/ebay etc. You can get a Leica M6 for 130,000 yen.
