Still looks fucking awesome though.
The resolution of those images would make the small bills so uneconomical to print. You'd eat so much ink.
As if the government is afraid of spending :v:
The resolution of those images would make the small bills so uneconomical to print. The only issue I see is a lack of security window that most plastic currencies have.
In switzerland we change our money design about every twenty years. We currently go to our ninenth change in 2015 (might delay) current series (since 1995): Next design (not fixed yet)
I think money looks a lot better in portrait rather than landscape
I think money looks a lot better in portrait rather than landscape
I suppose it makes sense, really. You don't hand notes to people sideways- you hold them from one end so they can grab them from the other. With portrait notes, people don't have to read the numbers sideways.
I think money looks a lot better in portrait rather than landscape
I was so confused by this post, I thought you meant you preferred portraits of people rather than landscapes - not that you preferred vertical over horizontal.

I went looking up if the US will adopt polymer currency and founds this as the first result -_-
Although the novelty behind polymer money is interesting, the currency does have its drawbacks. First of all, the obvious, is that you can’t fold plastic into a wallet. Unless the money is all conveniently sized like credit cards, it’ll be pretty hard to carry it in a wallet, or you back pocket.
http://www.clutchmagonline.com/2014/01/paper-plastic-will-u-s-follow-countries-get-rid-paper-money/ Talk about stupid.
I like the classy monochromatic look of our current money. I dislike the updated bills too, now the 1 dollars is the only true classy bill left.
Honestly I really love our old style bills. It just feels... right. They've followed the same style for around 200 years. Pictures also don't capture our newest bills as they really are. They actually have quite a bit of flashy and raised parts, they aren't as flat and boring looking as they are in pictures.
There are some problems with the current bills. Having all bills the same size makes things pretty tough for the blind, for example. We also desperately need to get rid of the penny. Maybe even the nickel, just move the whole system up a decimal place.

Would love to see some country go out of the norm and go for these designs in my lifetime.
These won't ever go through, not because of their futuristic design but because they have the wrong imagery. US currency has always had famous historical political figures on it's currency, not landscapes or bland scientific b-roll images. Personally, I prefer my Andrew Jackson over a picture of red blood cells.

I'd rather have an astronaut than the White House.

I say ditch the dead politicians and their monuments, let's get important American achievements instead. Particularly since some of them are horrible choices - Jackson and Grant weren't particularly good presidents, and Hamilton was just the first Secretary of the Treasury.

Why cling on to the past when there's so much cool shit in the present and future to be celebrated?
I like the architecture on the back of the bills though
The resolution of those images would make the small bills so uneconomical to print. You'd eat so much ink.
It would make absolut no difference, since bills are printed with different printing techniques, but not laser- or inkjet. And possible resolutions go up to 120 lines per centimetre with offset printing.
Many other countries have bills just like that and can print them no problem. They aren't being printed on a laserjet. The only issue I see is a lack of security window that most plastic currencies have.
Security would be no problem, barely people have an idea how much security is possible with ink and paper. Had a speech about this at professional school (going to be a printer), and there are over hundred ways to make documents secure, ink- and paperwise.

Currently it's bridges and old artifacts, which is, well, okay. But seriously, the Apollo moon landing and other stuff like that would be bitching, though I do like the iconic look of the current dollar.
Didn't KFC meat reach the restaurants packed in marinade already? Anyway [t]http://i.imgur.com/1SuLdDZ.jpg[/t] This is a former border check between Estonia and Latvia.
I was trying to figure out how the rounds don't just jump over each other before I realized how it worked. That's clever, I want one
You still have to stack all the rounds in the tray but it'd probably take way less time. Only annoying thing is that you'd have to get different ones for different sizes of rounds

Particularly since some of them are horrible choices - Jackson and Grant weren't particularly good presidents, and Hamilton was just the first Secretary of the Treasury.
Jackson and Grant weren't really chosen for their presidencies. Jackson was an excelent General and pivotal during the Battle for New Orleans during the war of 1812. He and his 5,000 Soldiers and Militiamen held off 7,500 British troops, inflicting around 2,000 casualties while only sustaining 71 himself. His troops loved him and gave him the nick-name "Old Hickory" because of how stern and tough he was. Not even going to delve into Grant's military history.....
