Patients of Doctor Harold Gillies, founder of modern day plastic surgery, before and after. His patients were, as the French would later name them, the "Broken Faces" of the Great War. -snip-
That last one is truly amazing. When you consider that this surgery was done almost 100 years ago, that is an absolutely fantastic job.
More fantasy landscapes like that, I love those.

These are so inspiring!
Camel thorn trees in the Namibian desert. Almost looks like a painting but it's a real picture. Every time I see that picture I cannot understand what's going on, even though I know the orange is a sand dune.
Jesus chirst, James didn't change at all
Kurt looks roughly the same as well.
Every time I see that picture I cannot understand what's going on, even though I know the orange is a sand dune.
The blue is the ground in the shade, which is also why the trees are black looking.
Every time I see that picture I cannot understand what's going on, even though I know the orange is a sand dune.
It's probably an extremely long focal length flattening the perspective making the dune behind the trees seem really big kind of like orthographic projection.
The new Just Cause world looks really nice. And then there was the inevitable drop. And when the night was over and the white wine was over and the dancing was over, she sat in the corner like a child, with everything gone. I saw her sitting quietly without expression on her face, and I walked towards her but I wouldn’t photograph her without her knowledge of it. And as I came with the camera, I saw that she was not saying no." -Richard Avedon, 1957
[t]http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/commons/thumb/2/25/Coronary_Arteries.tif/lossy-page1-640px-Coronary_Arteries.tif.jpg[/t]
Cast of coronary arteries. The coronary arteries are classified as "end circulation", since they represent the only source of blood supply to the myocardium; there is very little redundant blood supply, which is why blockage of these vessels can be so critical.
Also, this is really terrifying
Misty, age 26, USA:“I was 35 weeks pregnant and feeling really tired because we had just put up the new baby crib the night before. I went to sleep, but woke up to this weird constricting feeling in my lower throat, like I had a lump of something stuck there. The feeling went down to my upper chest and continued down to the lower chest area. It wasn’t pain, just more of a squeezing, restricting feeling. I then started to get a slight pain that felt like acid relux. I started to feel faint so I woke up my husband. I was sweating profusely, nauseated, had the chills and felt faint. And I also had a very weird tingling and numbness in BOTH arms from my shoulders to my elbows. We went to the hospital, where I was told that I’d had a massive heart attack caused by an aneurysm. It had exploded and made a tear in one of my heart valves, allowing blood to flow through the layers and squeeze the valve. The doctors say my body just couldn’t handle the stress of the pregnancy. I ended up having an emergency C-section and triple bypass surgery. I have also had an ICD (Implantable Cardiac Defibrillator) placed because my heart muscle has not healed the way they wanted it to. But even before that day, I’d been feeling tired and short of breath, and I had just blamed it on being pregnant. Now I can see all these issues as cardiac problems and not just pregnancy.”

Laura, age 40, USA: “I was asleep and my symptoms woke me up. I had several simultaneous symptoms, but the first one seemed to be chest pain in the centre-left, somewhat under my left breast area. I’d never felt anything like it, so sometimes it’s hard to describe – it wasn’t sharp or crushing or burning, more like a dull pressure. I also had pain down the inside of my left arm that radiated up into the left side of my jaw and my left ear. I was very overheated, and I felt like I was going to throw up. The nausea and overheating faded, but the pain – chest, arm, jaw – stayed. In hospital, I was diagnosed with a heart attack caused by SCAD – spontaneous coronary artery dissection*, treated with six stents.”

SCAD: The coronary artery develops a tear, causing blood to flow between the layers which forces them apart. There is evidence to suggest that a major cause of spontaneous coronary artery dissection (SCAD) is related to female hormone levels, as most cases appear to arise in pre-menopausal women, although there is evidence that the condition can have various triggers; other underlying conditions such as hypertension may sometimes be causes.[4] There is also a possibility that exercise can be a trigger. However cases sometimes have no obvious cause.
Holy fuck your arteries can suddenly blow up. [editline]30th November 2014[/editline]
Kimber, age 46, USA: “My first symptoms felt like a blow to the chest, like a shotgun smack dab in the middle of my chest. It immediately took my breath away and knocked me backwards about 3-4 feet. I also had an intense drilling pain under my left funny bone. The symptoms did not let up. At the time, I was just sitting at my desk. Doctors found 0% plaque in my arteries – I was diagnosed with a coronary artery spasm from Prinzmetal’s Angina. I remained several days at two different hospitals. My first heart attack was on May7th and my second was on May 22nd.”
Or your arteries can suddenly constrict and go: nah, aint gonna let too much blood pass through here anymore.
If an artery explodes in your head (no matter how many) that's a sure stroke from ischaemia IIRC from med class. Your arteries and veins are some serious shit and people don't take high cholesterol seriously enough.

My mother had her right coronary artery explode last week while they were performing a Coronary catheterization. Thankfully they saw it immediately and started repairing that shit but would that have happened any other time and she'd be dead.
