Being a pilot must be pretty cool.

And with that comes a fuckton of responsibilities.

That a trained pilot has shown to be manageable in 99.9% of situations. It has got to be an incredibly cool job.

It would be hard to be away from your loved ones all the time, though. I don't think I could do it if I had a family.
Being a pilot must be pretty cool.
It is, piloting an aircraft is absolutely surreal.
Being a pilot must be pretty cool.
I'm working towards my private license and I can tell you first hand it is really fucking cool.
(Sidenote: Fuck the FAA. I've halted my instruction because my medication is allowed for depression (which I don't have), but not OCD. Apparently people would rather have a suicidal pilot rather than a moderately OCD pilot.)
ANYWAYS Have a photo I took and my favorite video involving planes

I wonder where he was that he was waiting on a C130 to land. Those are some fun planes, even if I dont see out the front much. Stuff like this makes me want to pursue a private pilots license

I mean people would go to the crazy house just 150 years ago if they said humans would by flying through the air so high and so fast that you have to wear airbags around your legs so that all your blood doesn't pool up in your feet and oxygen masts to keep that blood oxygenated and your brain conscious while your body goes through stress that our human physiology was never intended to go through.
Aviation is awesome

I'm thinking to start paragliding soon, so I watched quite a lot of videos about it recently, some are quite stunning. And with the current flying focused posts here, why not :v:
This is basically next door for me.

And this is just a great edit.

Those were amazing! Paragliding looks like one of the most fun things I have ever seen! How long can you stay in the air with one of those?
Also, you get to live near such a scenic view? I'm pretty jealous

Basically, it's a wing made out of fabric (nylon I think mostly today). As soon as you lift them up, chambers are filled with air and form the proper shape to provide lift. After that, it's just gliding through the air and working with thermics.
Also, yeah, living in the swiss alps is beautiful :v:
[editline]21st August 2013[/editline]
Also, it depends, you can stay up for hours if the wind and the thermics allow it.

It looks like a blast, to bad it costs a ton for the equipment, at least what I found. I definitely want to try it sometime though, maybe when I finish college and get a job.
[sp]or you can fly me out to them lovely swiss alps and then we can paraglide :v: [/sp]

I tend to be super paranoid and always have something like this lingering in the back of my mind.
Everytime I go past an old parked car which is more or less solitary I start thinking
'what if this blew up'
'would I even notice before I turned into dust in the wind'
then I start walking a bit faster
I found a butterfly on our butterfly bush that I thought was really pretty and managed to get some pictures of it, these are the best 2.
Also, anyone who might be a butterfly or insect/bug enthusiast, if you happen to know what kind of butterfly it is, I'd be thrilled to know.

Beautiful! I don't know the type of butterfly, but did you notice that tear in its wing?
I wonder how it got that. I wonder if it noticed.

All things considere, it's the cheapest way to get into the air, you can do it with about 4000$ if you buy used equipment. That's with training by the way. I'm not taking courses right now, I'm looking for a school though :v:
And if you ever do come to Switzerland, send me a message :v:

We did see the tear, but it flew just fine, so I don't think it minded. The type of butterfly is called a Limenitis Arthemis I believe.

Britain's most expensive number plate, valued at £6,000,000. The owner paid £440,000 five years ago.
