That seems to be his point, but none of those are super high tech. Older, cheaper machines and ideas don't just stop working once the newer things are introduced. I think that's p cool.
That combination of old technology and new technology reminds me a lot of HL2.
This is one of my favorite artists. His name is Simon Stålenhag.
I find his work inspiring and thought-provoking. These paintings (all done traditional)
depict a future Sweden.

I could've posted so much more, but i dont want to clog the thread. Here's his gallery, (there's dinosaurs!) http://www.simonstalenhag.se/
I love how this painting sends a shit ton of questions into your head, I want it to be a video just for this scene.

idk remote controlled mechs seem pretty high tech to me
idk remote controlled mechs seem pretty high tech to me
Yeah but its also a longgggg way away from the "WE HAVE ASCENDED, WHEELS ARE INSUFFICIENT" level. The tech for mechs and accelerometer & gyro based control exist right now.
Reminds me more of looper.
as i thought they are mostly digital:

doesn't make it any less impressive, it's still quality work. but when you said they were done traditionally (probably acrylic) i was like "holy shit this guy belongs to the 18th century".

I think this is the neatest of the collection, because it does the same thing except with modern technology with older than us tech.

There was close to 30 million soldiers killed during WWII. Considering a large number of them were draftees, most wouldn't have been older than 25 years old. Germany and the USSR lost over 10 percent of their total populations, each. Many people take it lightly how many people were killed during WWII just because the number is so unfathomably high.

Enthusiast astro-spectroscopy amateur, I tired to shoot some lightning flash spectra.
I succeeded ! Here is the result. I found it realy beautiful !
By analysing this spectra, it is possible to determine the temprature of the lightning. I am trying to do this.

Yeah seriously.
There's better places to post depressing photos of war and dead soldiers.

That thread has been dead for a very very long time, if you'll notice, I was pretty much the only one providing content for most of the thread.
I'm just providing content here, but I guess most of yous haven't put on your big boy pants yet so I'll stop for the time being.

This thread is for "cool/cute/useful/awesome stuff" (quoted from OP).
Sorry for not "putting on my big boy pants" and coming here to see depressing war stuff and dead people in this thread.
Maybe you can re-make that thread in GD again, so it gets bumped to the top. You can post that sort of stuff in there, for people who like seeing dead bodies and depressing war crimes.
Seriously, rotting corpses, what the fuck man.

I guess your dad must have been into looking at dead people a lot, if that's your definition of being grown up, to look at dead people and depressing shit all the time.

I guess I'm abnormal for not having a mental breakdown when I see a photo of a skeleton. Yeah stuff like thats depressing, but not to the point where it ruins my day or start crying.

Not a mental breakdown, you're just posting it in the wrong thread and it's not pleasant to look at.

See if you can get an opportunity to shoot it (use your thumb, or possibly just mount it and use a string if it's untested) and get a video of that.
