I don't know if my eyes are fucked up, but that just looks 2D to me.
Does anyone know what those things are called? I've seen them all over Reddit and Tumblr and stuff and really want to look for more.
The lines give it illusion of depth.

Basically the lines are false "image breaks" that came into play when Tumblr implemented image sets.

Yeah, I'm pretty sure they're a tumblr thing because the layout those images have got are identical to the 3 image photosets.
I know we recently had a big deal with war stuff but the "photos that shook the world" thread is dead so
My sculptures are formed entirely of wood and then painted. I use traditional processes to carve, construct, laminate and paint my pieces. The woods I prefer working with are basswood, linden and limewood (all very similar) chosen because they carve and paint well and are very stable. Coming from a painting and drawing background, I am still interested in applying some of those techniques to my sculptures. My choice of paint is mostly waterborne lacquer applied using both spray guns and brushes.
I'll link this for the sake of your sanity, but one of my favorite quotes comes from a reporter reporting the aftermath

Yeah there are many disturbing images from the attack. I prefer the scale of the image I posted over the gore of that one, I feel it has more of an impact.

Madame Ho Thi Que, The Tiger Lady. Served with the South Vietnamese military during the Vietnam war. Wasn't just a moral tool either, this woman saw more combat than most troops would ever see. The NVA gave her the nickname "Madame Death" because of how ferocious she was. She served alongside her husband in the 44th Rangers Battalion.
Her Comrades called her "Big Sister" because of the way she treated them. She had a short temper but was incredibly kind; if she caught one of her troops stealing she would chew them out or even slap them silly.
Seriously read the article I linked. This woman was incredible.
If you hit just below where the ribcage connects, the way he did in the .gif, you could cause a guy to shit himself. Bruce Lee had a method of punching. It wasn't just a punch. He would relax his muscles, almost making his arm limp during the swing, and then just before impact he'd just tighten them all up, making for a devastating hit
Though, I think the bowling ball part is made up. Can't imagine it to be that crushing.
I feel like if everyone who came here complaining the photos that shook the world thread was dead actually posted over there it would be pretty active. :v:

People lost interest because all of the compelling photos had already been posted. The ones I was posting didn't have any historically significant people in it and weren't just instant satisfaction photos like from the first 2/3 of the first thread. Nobody wanted to have to stare at a photo for 5 minutes or read an essay to understand why it's cool or significant.

I visited an old preschool I used to go to like a million years ago when I was a child.
It's gone, completely. Just a few rusty pipes stick out.
There are still benches around and I thought they looked real neat.

By the way, I'm on somewhat of a weak computer and can't really handle large GIFs, it'd be really nice if they were tagged down or linked instead.
I can't view some of the pages on this thread because people are posting so many large gifs and it causes all windows to freeze.
It's a little frustrating but that is why I don't really come here so often anylonger.
You don't have to, just asking if you could do me that favour.[/sp]
Next time you start crying that your SSD cost you a whole $300, be grateful cause back in 1980 things were a tad more expensive.

oh and counting inflation, the first hardrive would have cost around $9,000 in todays money. The second would have cost 34 grand, and the third 56 grand.

If I were you, I'd try Chrome.
I too prefer Firefox [sp]because it's just better[/sp] but Chrome is lighter and faster, which I've found makes a huge difference on shitty systems.
I could even browse LMAOpics on a 900MHz/1GB RAM netbook with it.
It's pretty much entirely for show and it uses wheels, but it's pretty cool.

We can pretty much make crude mechs at this point, it's just that there's no practical use for them so nobody wants to.

Hence, "no practical use". "No practical point" probably would have been better phrasing.
But hey, see Toyota's "mech" from 2004.
