Because you would need an insanely expensive high-speed camera, which would be extremely unweidly and cumbersome to bring into a war zone. And with it being a warzone, it will probably be destroyed, and thats a lot of money lost. That shell is moving around 2,000 feet per second, or 1,300 miles per hour. A 115gr 9x19mm moves slower than that, and you can't catch that on a handheld camera.
That isn't the only time that sort of thing has been captured on video in syria, theres a ton of videos where you can see RPG's and ATGM's come flying past so its really not that hard to believe. Granted the shell itself couldve been faked in but theres no way the tank isnt firing, you can see the shockwave hitting the dirt behind the tank on a slope, that shits not easy to edit perfectly like a flat surface.

That celshading is amazing.

It's like a prius to a F1 car. I'm not saying it's photoshopped frame by frame or CGI'd in there or anything like that, but thats not an actual full on tank shell it fired because theres absolutely no way a handheld camera could capture a tank shell in flight with that much detail. Even RPGs and other dumb-rockets are just momentary blurs, and they're also moving at around the 300 m/s.
This was stiched to show the 'truth' of WW1 [editline]6th November 2013[/editline] Also, this was in China. And no, not photoshopped.

Kennedy during his funeral services at Arlington National Cemetery in Arlington, Virginia, on November 25, 1963. The cadets, 18- and 19-year-old soldiers, had been whisked from their remote barracks in County Kildare the day before and were flown to the U.S. to perform a special ceremonial drill at the funeral of the slain president. He had been captivated by the drill when he saw it performed in Dublin months earlier. Jesus Christ those parking lots, that's one inefficient use of land. Not to mention it looks horrible.
Wait, they built an arena next to an arena?

Keith Thompson dump? Keith Thompson dump.
SURFACE KING King & Son's Oceanic Surveying Co. folded late in the year, unable to stave off the debts incurred by constant delays. The delays were caused by a disturbing casualty rate among the deep sea divers; they simply stopped returning to the surface. The company's assets and few remaining dive suits were sold to a competing group. They scrubbed off the suits' distinctive crown logos and immediately put them to good use in successful dives arranged in the same previously unlucky waters. During the course of these new untroubled ventures two divers working at the absolute limit of safe diving depth happened upon a building of sorts; some type of oppressive colonnade sheltering a row of seated figures. A tentative investigation discovered that within the building were seated the drowned remains of the missing divers, chained in stone thrones. In front of each corpse drifted bundles of kelp, crustacean meat and other seemingly edible offerings. The dead diver's bodies themselves were coated in a thick layer of silt, with the exception of the still shining, as though regularly polished, stylised crown markings on the dive suit's outer plating. Upon return, with the intent of winching up the men's remains for proper burial, it was revealed that the entire submerged building had seemingly collapsed, dragging most of everything down with it into an unfathomable trench below.

GUARD POST Two guards posted along the rim of a floating island. A religious cult has built a temple and surrounding dwellings on this island, and they float across the continent indoctrinating and spiriting away new followers. Of course, the more established religions on land encourage all to resist the new cult and attacks on the island are common. These guards especially have to look out for fires being set in the path of the island. It floats and steers very slowly with the use of huge lode stones. Peasants on the ground are taught by the churches to set huge forest fires in the islands path to suffocate its inhabitants. These guards use very rare and expensive cartridge rifles (plundered, the industry of cartridge ammunition is long forgotten) to pick off scouts or shepherds who appear to be hurrying to warn towns of the island's advance. The cultists undergo a series of skin bleachings so that they begin to resemble dolls or puppets. The female is the example of successful treatments, and the figure on the tree is covered up due to severely disfiguring mistakes made in the process.

VIRAEMIA The civilised world lies on its knees, a sickness wracking its body. The affliction causes a necrotising of tissues so perfectly uniform in distribution that victims take on the appearance of corpses long before death occurs due to organ failure or secondary infections. The crumbling remnants of academia swing from fatalistic resignation to maddened optimism in their addressment of what could be done to fight the sickness. The vast numbers of doctors attempting to stem the tide of infection, invariably falling victim to the malady they treat, have begun to form fanatical extermination squads whose policies are condoned by authority. A notion forms, twisting the tenets of the Hippocratic oath to say that when the oath taker is subject to the half-death of infection they are obliged to spend their lasting days attempting to destroy the source of the contagion. The paramilitary forces formed from the infected medical practicioners find themselves deigned to mete out persecution to the sufferers they were formally treating. Equipped with the leftovers of dissolved military forces, the Doctors' Militia are organised to burn all infected areas and sufferers; a campaign which stalks across blasted lands, mirroring the wave of infection in an addled attempt at backtracking all the way to some imaginary source. Extensive bombing campaigns start firestorms that incinerate whole cities. Squads of "scorched earth" units are tasked with eradicating outlying locales. The distinctive appearance of the plague doctors, the only sight originally associated with any idea of hope, often causes the confused survivors of bombing runs to rush, open armed, towards the oncoming squads.

SEQUESTER A group of desperate bandits wring what little worth they can from the surivivors that spot the dust-blasted wastes along the Urals. They descend from higher ground, beating scavenged drums and taking cover in the shadow of their bullet-spewing saintly idol: the Sequester. Completely silent but cooperative in the raids, the Sequester only takes regular infusions of water and canned food in exchange for its presence; something that has effectively turned the bandit group into a incontrovertable force of nature that strips everything to the bone and leaves only human misery in its path. It is devoutly worshipped by most of the bandits as some sort of nomadic holy site; a walking bulletproof Tabernacle. Some, under the influence of drink have discussed amongst themselves their theories on its nature as a military robot in service before the missiles fell, now aimlessly fighting according to some gameplan devised by its long gone original directors. Recently there had been a man who had joined the bandits briefly and was struck aghast when he first witnessed the Sequester. He spouted long and detailed stories about what the robot actually was, that the Sequester was a NATO QAPS unit, or Quadruple Amputee Power Suit, not a robot, and he desperately ran his hands over it looking for some access panel. He stammered that it appeared to be running autonomously, keeping its pilot cut off from the outside world, but still taking in food and water to keep him alive. His heretical calls for help in "cracking open the damned thing to save the poor bastard inside" were completely rejected, and the more pious bandits hastily had him broken on a wheel and left for dead.

APOLLONIAN WIGHT When experiments testing the viability of tapping into the quantum vacuum for energy were performed on the Apollo 21 Lab Station, reports devolved into strange ramblings about how their conclusions were inconceivable to human minds. Before all communication ceased, garbled messages were sent to earth from the astronauts about their experiments revealing to them the "howling face of the sun." A rescue crew was violently repulsed from the station by corpses in the astronaut's space suits. Footage of the incident show ghostly images of tormented figures hanging just behind these corpses, struggling, but seemingly unable to pull themselves apart from their decaying bodies.
Keith Thompson should illustrate Lovecraft stories he'd manage to make things look twice as alien and repulsive as everyone else
But 90% of his robots have penises.
that's where the "alien and repulsive" comes in [editline]6th November 2013[/editline] also on the topic of Keith Thompson, i think this is brilliant
And I saw when the uniformed man opened one of the files, and I heard, as it were the noise of thunder, one of the four monitors saying "Come and see." I saw, and behold on the screen was a white horse: and he that sat on him had a rifle; and a crown was given unto him: and he went forth conquering, and to conquer. And when he had opened the second file, I heard the second monitor say, Come and see. And there went out another horse that was red: and power was given to him that sat thereon to take peace from the earth, and that they should kill one another: and there was given unto him a great missile. And when he had opened the third file, I heard the third monitor say, Come and see. And I beheld, and lo a black horse; and he that sat on him had a pair of balances in his hand. And I heard a voice in the midst of the four screens say, A measure of wheat for a penny, and three measures of rice for a penny; and see thou hurt not the oil and the coal. And when he had opened the fourth file, I heard the voice of the fourth monitor say, Come and see. And I looked, and behold a pale horse: and his name that sat on him was Death, and nuclear fire followed with him. And power was given unto them over the fourth part of the earth, to kill with bullet, and with hunger, and with death, and with the infernal machines of man.
It's probably literally about VR, but you could also take it as some kind of commentary on computers right now in general. I've never seen the full size picture until now, but a few weeks ago, seeing just a thumbnail of it, I thought it was some kind of anti-computer propaganda. The artist seems to like literal representations of an alternate/future universe though.
