• Discord: Better than Skype/Teamspeak?
Discord is okay if you JUST want to talk to your friends and don't want to deal with any backend. Basically just a replacement for skype. That said TS3 and Mumble easily top it in security and modularity.
Discord is pretty secure though, using XALSA20 end-to-end encryption for desktop app, TLS for chat and DTLS for voice chat.
not really, it's just some reddit overhyped program to destroy the competition. Also it's not that popular. And i heard that it has worse voice codecs, no video calls. I'd recommend Teamspeak/Mumble for voice, and Google Hangouts for video calls/conferencing/chat ,also Slack, Facebook Messenger(with your close friends) for just text. What's worse is the fact that it's named after My Little Pony antagonist
Or instead of using Facebook Messenger and Google Hangouts, people can just use Discord to get all the basic things they're looking for into one stable program? Teamspeak/Mumble is definitely better than Discord, can't argue there, but as a Skype replacement it works brilliantly. The upcoming video features pretty much spells the death of Skype. Also what does "reddit program" mean? Why does its fucking name matter? It could be called Hitler Did Nothing Wrong and I'd still use it.
But can I use it on my Vectrex?
How come no one has answered my question? All right, I'll make the question more easier. Can I run it on Windows 95?
Discord is pretty damn good, and I would've probably stuck with it but there some small issues me and my friends had with it, so unfortunately it won't replace TS3 for us yet. Main issue was really us being randomly disconnected from our server, since it was happening way too often.
use a few discord servers, got a chatbot with mod abilities running in the servers for fun and useful managment. pretty great program theres alot of discord bots to mess around with that have varying uses, i currently use nadekobot which runs on my computer https://github.com/Kwoth/NadekoBot

I've honestly never really had bad experiences with any of the 3
Me and my group tried out discord and found TS3 to just be better. TS3 has far better security, far better audio codecs, and in general is a lot more controllable with sub-channels and group rights and what-not, though the codec was our biggest issue funnily enough. We have a TS bot that plays music and every single one of our channels is in opus music 10 quality 24/7, the quality it plays music at is indistinguishable from a high-quality youtube video whilst in discord in sounds very muddy and bleh. While this probably isn't an issue for most people, we use that bot for not only sharing music with everyone else, but also as mood setting for our D&D campaigns amongst other things, so its kind of needed.

It depends on situation. Discord is good for small groups playing together or even two people(like me and my mate, we play together using Discord and switched from Skype since Discord hit open beta) but if you are playing a game like SMITE where you have a whole lot of people in a clan and you want to have people to play with, I use TS because every clanmate has it and we talk using it and it's really easy to switch channels to separate people into groups that play different things and whatnot. TS is also better for games like Guild Wars 2 where you have 20+ people listening to the commander telling what to do and where are we going and it's easy to drop in and out of the channel.
