I should make sure this thread stays up and running, so have a boss:
Rosh Penin, in Jedi Academy.
[t]http://img2.wikia.nocookie.net/__cb20080429053733/starwars/images/archive/9/90/20080730200730!JKAhs_rosh.png[/T]
Rosh is a fucking cunt from the start up and eventually crosses over to the Sith, where you have to defeat him.
To defeat him, you kill the reborn brothers and then have to kill him.
He's an entertaining asshole.

Meta Ridley from Metroid Prime. At the end of the game once you've obtained the means to reach the final boss, you're about to enter the Impact Crater when this bastard, who has been flying around since the tutorial, comes in and destroys your only way of getting in. The fight itself is also amazing...now only if the actual final boss could be so good...

That immense feeling of triumph when you finally have the upper hand on the combine, especially if you get the Neighbourhood Watch achievement. Also getting to blast around in the Jalopy running over hunters was fun as fuck

Anyone who says a female boss is not intimating is very, very wrong. Many deem her impossible to beat. Just look up "Armored Core Zinaidia" will bring up hundreds of questions on how to beat her. Her super-aggressive fighting style in her final form is worsened by her boss being specially modified for her to be even quicker, more defensive, and impossibly fast for the player to keep up with. On the PSP remake, she is even harder, and harasses the player more up close and pulls even more impossible aerial maneuvers that no human player could imitate. Most have just resorted to beating her with a Codebreaker.
Her messages, and requests for a 1v1 fight all the time build up to be the very hardest boss in a 17 year franchise.

While he wasn't as hard when you figured it out, the battle and his presence on a one-on-one fist fight with a teleporting ninja-cyborg is just fucking nuts. Easily my favorite fight of all time in Metal Gear. The tension in the fight just kills me every time.

I always liked the female Ravens, Eclair was my favourite.
Shadow Queen, of course!

For unconventional reasons I'm going with the end of Mojo's level in X-Men for the Sega Megadrive/Genesis. You need to defuse a bomb or something after beating the actual boss, and the only instructions you're given are to 'Reset The Computer'. Dozens of times I'd play through the level and beat the boss, then spend the next few minutes counting down the timer and trying everything I could think of. Eventually my eight year old tantrum instincts kicked in and I reset the console in frustration so I could start all over again. Cue a screen full of green binary digits and a faux-computer readout telling me that the mainframe has been successfully rebooted, and the cutscene for the next level plays.
Not technically a boss I suppose, but it happened at the end of a level and aged me several years so deal with it.
Lord Dredmor

I don't know why but hes my favorite just because you can be wandering around the last floor and then you open a door and see this tall skeletal guy and before you know you've just been blinded and fire-balled to death.

My mother actually beat this boss. I remember going to school way back in Elementary school going, "yeah haha yeah guys that's cool but my mom beat a boss in Paper Mario that has like 1000 HP"

I will take any excuse to post Artorias

I felt a vivid sense of accomplishment from defeating this dude after spending like 7 hours of the playthrough on his section.

Ameno-sagiri from Persona 4. Everything about it was amazing. The music was ominous, but inspiring; the vista was vast and gorgeous; and the boss itself was intimidating and the fight was pretty intense (if I already didn't have an iron-clad strategy).

The feels when you ice butch

"Your raid cleared out the last group of monsters, and the only thing left are the two gates at the very end of the room. All of a sudden, the mighty gates fly open. A vast laboratory filled with all kinds of strange machinery lies before you, electric discharges and lightning painting the walls with jagged shadows. Even though you know you should be trying to rally your raid you can't help but stare at the monstrosity in the center of the room. At the last second you snap out of it and barely escape a fierce blow by of one of the two gruesome wights that descended from platforms higher up in the room. As your raid forms up and mounts a first organized attack on the creatures, you can't help but wonder what other nightmares lie in wait in the cursed depths of Naxxramas.
You get the feeling you'll find out soon enough."
Thaddius is one of my top ten favorite WoW bosses. He's sewn together from the souls of women and children, has voice lines resonating through all of Naxxramas and has two extra bosses on his side, Feugen and Stalagg.
[vid]http://wowimg.zamimg.com/wowsounds/sound/creature/thaddius/thad_naxx_greet.ogg[/vid]
This is what you hear when you first enter.
Thaddius is a threatening monstrosity, roughly the size of a giant, and probably shocks you with the sole of his boot if he can't smash you.

T--that's not a boss
[t]http://img4.wikia.nocookie.net/__cb20110502014546/megaman/images/8/88/Wojigairon.png[/t]
This guy, he was the boss of the Saul Kada ruins in Megaman Legends 2. Now to their credit pretty much all of the reaverbots in Megaman Legends looked fucking scary, so that's not unique to this one. But in addition to that, this guy was huge, so massive it was actually impossible for his whole body to be rendered in the room with you all at once. you also couldn't actually defeat him the first few times you encountered him. His room was full of lava that he could drink to restore his health (and if you touched it you would catch fire and have your movement drastically reduced), so you had to run in and out of his room several times trying to avoid getting eaten until you were able to remove the lava, then you could fight him directly.
Quadraxis from Metroid Prime 2
[t]https://i.ytimg.com/vi/10LTEjKPchQ/maxresdefault.jpg[/t]
It's never explicitly stated that this giant mech is the guardian of Sanctuary Fortress, but there are clues everywhere. In the Light World version of the arena there are massive parts larger than any of the robots seen so far, if you look at the lore of the area you see the Luminoth talking about the giant Quadraxis class mechs they have created and how they were corrupted by the Ing and used against them... The boss itself is a rather difficult three phase showdown where your health is constantly draining due to the toxic atmosphere. The battle ends with you having to sever a radio signal between the bosses now-detached head and body before stunning the head using some tracks on the leg to set two bombs in its brain.
[editline]Edited[/editline]
Aaaand just now I realized I was late. Oh well, I actually went into detail on why this boss is awesome.

I can never forget losing the execution of this fight on Impossible Difficulty, getting torn into pieces bit by fucking bit.
Its pretty tricky because it deliberately inverts your aiming controls as well. :v:
my legs flailing through the air and crashing to the floor.
never.again.
The only thing that beats it is losing the final boss fight of Dead Space 2, i'll let you guys find that one on your own.
There are many bosses I enjoy on the character level. Overall the bosses I truly loved to fight were all the bosses in MGR:R except the final boss in Sam DLC. That one belongs to the most threatening category.
Sebastian was some shit the first time I played Blood omen 2

One versus One fights against a boss with similar skills and rules/a slight edge over you tends to be good shit.

[sp]Having just finished the Reboot, i have a craving for some more Devil May Cry. And i'll be honest, DmC's Vergil was simply not motivated enough, plus he had a funny hat.
I personally think people gave Donte a bit too much shit though, he's not exactly Dante but he's not that bad of a character, really.[/sp]
Gregori from Dragon's Dogma

Abandon all delusions of control
Grigori is such a cool fight. You end up destroying a huge portion of the ruins, he has great attacks, and the first time you attack him you immediately think "Well, fuck. I wasn't prepared for this shit!"

Up to this point in Obvlion I hadn't seen anything as intimidating as this guy. I was about 12 when I first played this bit, but even now it makes me sweat a bit.
