I've been playing some Vampire: The Masquerade - Bloodlines and oh boy, it really is a game from the early 2000s, it's got that feel of that time, no smart phones or dubstep or whatever, even though those years were only a while ago, things are quite a bit different now.

Either I misunderstood your post or you have misunderstood how early in development the stage I am mentioning occurs. At this stage you are nothing more than a small bundle of cells, you look nothing like a person.
