Just watched Dudu the Floatie. It was the sweetest thing ever and pretty much perfect.
It's about 24 minutes, part of this "Young Animator Training Project 2011" thing.
The other three I've found from that project are Buta, Wasurenagumo, and Shiranpuri.
Those three are all about 25 minutes each as well. Wasurenagumo is the highest rated of all four on MAL, with Dudu second.
Recommend Dudu anyway, especially as it's so short.

Could always be a 12 with a pause (Fate/Zero, Jormungand etc.), or 12 episodes and see how it sells, and if it sells good it gets a second season

The best Naruto episode definitely is episode 101, the one about Kakashi's mask.
So I started watching Maria Holic whenever I get tired of how super serious Monster is (Monster's amazing, by the way). The voice acting's pretty good and the style sort of reminds me of Sayonara Zetsubous Sensei but considering who made it that's probably to be expected.
It's actually pretty entertaining, although I've not watched enough to speak for the series as a whole. It's clearly not taking itself particularly seriously and I can kind of dig that.

I really wish the anime wasn't so friendly sometimes. Was hoping they would [sp]execute Grimlock[/sp], instead of treating him like had had a hangover at the end when they were leaving.
I know someone who's getting into Anime by watching one of the new Gundam series. They seem to be enjoying it but I don't know if they'll enjoy some of the stuff that I'm into, like Steins;Gate, Paranoia Agent or Sayonara Zetsubou Sensei. It's pretty hard to get them to try new things sometimes so I'm wondering what other viewing you guys might be able to suggest. TTGL is obviously an idea, but any others would be welcome
They seem to like Gundam for its mix of grimdark atmosphere and its inherent silliness.

I thought it would be something more simple like [sp]activating a tomb-stone displayed what the character looked like. Not necessarily them being sentient, but just sort've a display.[/sp]
