If you think Neon Genesis Evanglion is good (which it isn't), moreso to the point where you got hooked, then it's safe to say you'll enjoy 70-80% of all anime out there.
A golden thumb of rule is to never start judging a show before you've watched 3 episodes as every show needs to establish itself, introduce the people and setting before actually starting and bringing in the good stuff.

I hope Yasushi Furuya gets selected after the third test in Space Brothers, I've come to like his character a lot. I probably like him more than the others because I started off hating him, whereas all the other third test characters have just sort of been okay.

I can honestly say that The Tatami Galaxy is one of the only anime series I've seen that will make you a better person for watching it.

OK so while I was checking out Neon Genesis Evangelion I noticed the opening theme is pretty upbeat. I thought "oh yeah I can dig this".
Cue me seeing nothing but people screaming, robots self harming, giant laser robot crucifixes, body horror, robots punching missiles, scary dolls, people being massacred with machine guns and flamethrowers and mangled robot heads jettisoning gore and teeth everywhere.
All with this catchy number playing in the background

It's still weird, the beginning feels like it's going to go wild with guitars and shit, and then they bring out the funk.
