You should try reading/watching Hunter x Hunter; It's widely regarded as one of the better shounens. And the author of Naruto has actually admitted to "borrowing" elements (like the Nen system) from it among other things.

I don't understand the appeal of a series where they don't show you the action, no they have to tell the action to you through text heavy explanations in midst of the fight.
