Most of the characters are likable and cute.

It's mostly slice of life, with enough drama to build up some tension, but it doesn't take too long to get resolved.
This show just did what most other anime would manage in an entire cour.
The singing was great too.
I can't wait to see where they'll take it from here.

You might enjoy the Ghost in the Shell movies and series (Stand Alone Complex) though it sometimes gets a bit heady for its own good. If you don't mind something a bit silly, you can watch Black Lagoon and Baccano.

I ask this, because I was watching a Doraemon Movie the other day, with Mermaids and stuff being the plot.
During a certain point in the movie, the background music changed to the same exact tune as in Platinum Disco. I even paused the movie, got the OP up and compared them, and they were the same!
Now, Doraemon Movie with Mermaids(I forget the title) came out years before Nisemonogatari and Platinum Disco, so this leads me to believe it is based on an actual song.
Does anyone know what the song Platinum Disco is based on is?
