Most of the characters he only tricks into falling in love with him without loving them back. If I recall correctly he only actually felt something for the last character in the second season, which doesn't really make much for a romance show.

Funnily enough a good portion of Facepunch is 4chan v2 that pretends to hate 4chan despite making the same jokes and acting the same way.
