So, should I take the time to read the Berserk manga from the beginning or should I just watch the first episode of the OVA that was recently released?
I read somewhere that the OVA starts off after the first arc in the manga so if I were to skip straight to the OVA, will I miss out on certain key character and plot developments?

They are monthly released OVA's. They're pretty normal lengthed in that regard.
The normal length for any live-action show.

Madoka Magica could have ended a number of ways (look up the list of speculated endings on the Madoka wiki). The ending we got took aspects from a number of them. If you call that predicted then whatever.

Maybe I have my know-all on literary themes so it seemed relatively clear as day.
Like, of course I didn't 100% accurately predict it down to the last minute detail, but to me it was like all the arrows were pointing in that direction.

To me, those arrows were only obvious in retrospect; so much so that any other ending now appears to be completely out of place thematically.
