Sure you think that this would be easier, but it would be an organizing catastrophe. There's way too much overlap between the songs and too many "bit parts." With like a dozen people vying to sing their favorite part, it would be incredibly messy and hard for pretty much everyone involved to compile in anything decent. Personally I much prefer simple songs that anyone can at least sing in one go through.
