Talk about awkward..
I never, EVER mention anything Japanese at all to my parents.
Yet today at the dinner table they started questioning me about it:
Since you're so fascinated with Japan, why don't you get into Japanese Logistics.
Do you know any words in Japanese? Any sentences?
Do you know what banzai and seppuku means?
Now, keep in mind I'm shy as fuck when people ask about stuff like that. Said to my parents I won't tell shit, and quickly left the dinner table.
Fuck.
You watching them Chinese girl cartoons again, son?
What in the fucking hell are you even talking about?
Also asians are very well known for being racist so, yeah.
Also it's not that odd that a handful of people usually are racist towards Asians, especially since they normally couple Japanese and Chinese together and represent them as all asians, because of Japan's ability to be extremely socially awkward (their tv shows, their pantie vending machines and just their extreme pornographic "inventions" like tentacle porn)
But most people aren't racistic towards Asians or specifically Japan. They just fucking hate the people obsessed with them and how their culture is so much better and just fucking shut up already goddamn Jesus I fucking hate you you fucking faggot go die in a fire.
KissXSis treated relationships pretty seriously
Oh wait, it just treated it as an excuse for fanservice like the majority of other series featuring relationships
Terrible list is terrible

I'm guessing at least one person here has seen Downtown's(Japanese comedy group and show) Batsu games.
I was watching them with subs and my sister walked by and asked how I can even understand the show when everything is Chinese

Aaaaand?
It's okay because everyone else does it?

I'm not saying it's okay, I just don't read them because thats how they all turn out.

Sounds like something my dad would do. :v:
i don't know. i watch naruto for the fight scenes, even if they're pretty mediocre. It's definitely not a good series, but it's not C-level bad.
I try to keep one anime that's pretty bad in my watch list so I can appreciate all of the other anime even more. It's a pretty good contrast.

That's more what my mom would do
except she'd dance
Oh my god, the horror
On a different note, does planetes get more actiony later on or is it just that one chick being loud and naive all the way through?
planetes isn't action in any way at all. if you're expecting action, you'll be disappointed.
it's pretty much a drama/romance shoujo, in space.
:(
Anyone know a good one in space that has action or is funny or both? Preferably with realistic physics.
most mecha series?
cowboy bebop too
i'm not sure if there's much else unfortunately
Gunbuster takes a realistic approach towards space and stuff, it's worth the watch if you haven't seen it already.

My mother used to be a huge racist and hated the Japanese
She stopped being vocal about it at the very least after I kept on telling her that she was racist every single day
Lots of older generation Chinese still detest the Japanese because of the massacres during WW2
My dad saw me watching anime once.
He asked "Is that mango?" (Yes mango not manga.)
I replied with a "Yep" and he went back to watching television.
i tried to watch a mango once but it didn't do much of anything at all
My mom just calls anything that has these eyes, manga.

I have a figure of Yui from K-on, when she saw it for the first time "Hey, that's manga right?"

Planetes
Space Brothers
Some animes I watch with my friend Ian over skype. It can be quite funny. We watched the dub Cardcaptors and we make fun of the episode where Sakura thinks to herself when Eriol comes into class, "He seems nice." and he proceeds to give her a rape face.
We started watching Mushishi but I guess we been busy with other things like Borderlands to watch it often.
Do you guys watch anime with others?
No- I watch it alone.
Do you guys watch anime with others?
Usually just those few times where I introduce my friend to a show he may be interested in (he doesn't watch anime in general).
We've watched parts of Bokusatsu Tenshi Dokuro-chan, Hellsing Ultimate and Sayonara Zetsubou Sensei together. But it's a year or two since last time, which was Hellsing Ultimate when the 6th episode maybe came out. Can't really remember. But I rewatched everything with him when I showed it to him except for the newer Hellsing Ultimate OVA's that I've seen together with him.
Ahh. I find it much more fun to watch it with someone who is actually enjoying the series.
Ahh. I find it much more fun to watch it with someone who is actually enjoying the series.
Goddamn rewatchers.
But, eh, rewatching is cool if it's with friends. But should really only happen if there are people that haven't seen it, if everyone has seen it you watch something good that not everyone has seen but someone has (otherwise you wouldn't know if it was good).

Agree. Usually I never rewatch unless it's been more than a year. I almost want to rewatch Hayate but I really need to make my list smaller so I can add more to my list of plan to watch and not feel so behind you guys. lol

Only one of my friends actually watches anime but he doesn't like watching with others.
All the people I know in real life that watch anime only watch crap like Naruto, Bleach, and Fairy Tail.
Except for this one fatass who's addicted to ecchi. And this gigantic black guy who has the voice of a ten-year-old. He's more interested in stuff like Zero no Tsukaima and Shakugan no Shana.
