Yeah, same here.
I normally cry easily to anime, but for some reason the ending to Ano Hana didn't make me cry.
i felt that way at the end of ef - a tale of memories
it made me smile rather than cry
wow clannad:as episode 16
the fuck, i'm dying
I must've been the only person here who thought the last episodes of the first Da Capo were pretty sad. But I'm still not sure whether or not it was supposed to watched as an anime, or played as a VN.
I've never seen a weeaboo in all my years of school.
Is it sad that the only reason I got into anime was because of a weeaboo in my 8th grade class who brought a Naruto manga in one day?

I got into anime around 4th grade from going to the Korean manhwa shops downtown that had Naruto books.
Talking about crying, am I the only one that found Space Brothers extremely emotional, specially the first couple of episodes? I think I've been in the verge of tears with that show more times than with, let's say, Clannad
I got into anime because of One Piece and then I started looking for others after I hit episode 480 in one piece

what... but Space Bros is far from sad

It could probably strike a much bigger chord with people who've actually gone through losing a job or knew someone close that had that happen to them, since the first part of Space Brothers was actually pretty grounded in reality.
Is it sad that the only reason I got into anime was because of a weeaboo in my 8th grade class who brought a Naruto manga in one day?
I don't think its that sad- when I took a japanese class in highschool (god forbid I didn't want to take fucking spanish or french) I totally overlooked the fact that there'd be a bunch of obnoxious kids in there. So I basically sat there everyday in class trying to get through the lesson, despite the fact that the obnoxious kids talked the entire time, and it wasn't just a couple of kids who talked alot. Some of them wore that Naruto headband shit IN class. I learned to tolerate others more than learning the language itself. Do I regret taking that class? Sort of. I feel like I could've taken some other elective and learn japanese some other way. But it was a highschool class... Anyways thats my little story. How did I get into anime? I saw some shitty fucking show called "Queen's blade", and I was aroused. I then began to search for something that had more story than anything else, and I was led here. Where I learned about Stein's gate.
Other than Naruto and Pokemon I didn't watch anime like I do now until like 2010 when I saw Toaru Majutsu no Index and was addicted.
Toaru Majutsu no Index I would call my first anime in the sense it was the first one I finished.
I started watching anime thanks to toonami. No regrets.

Nope, I was introduced to Naruto, Bleach, One Piece, Neon Genesis Evangelion, Trigun and Love Hina by a guy (now one of my closer friends) i befriended in a parallel class. He had become friends with my best friend that was in that class, thus I became a friend of his, and thanks to that I got to become part of a friendly unserious clan of people that usually is the people I do things with, which is generally LAN and movie nights.
forgot to mention the story about the exchange students coming from japan- but that story is for another day.
on another note.. Is Hanaukyou Maid-Tai any good despite obvious fanservice?
Adult Swim always had anime on sunday nights
I didn't think of it as something different from other cartoons until someone told me what it was though.

Well it isn't different from other cartoons. Because it's cartoons.
Now that I think about it there was a lot of anime I saw and watched a few times but never finished.
Serial Experiments: Lain - Finally finished
Hamtaro - Probably won't watch
Tenchi Universe - Watching currently
i only got into aniem like 2.5 years ago, ashxu had such a massive boner for k-on back then so i had to try it

basically this, I watched shows like Trigun, and cowboy bebop on and off when I was younger. I had no idea what the airing times were. But when I did see the shows, I saw them all jumbled up- like watching episode 5 of cowboy bebop, and then seeing episode 2 thinking some kind of timelapse happened or some shit. The first anime I actually EVER got into properly was Blue Gender. I faintly recall it scaring me for some reason. But needless to say I still thought it was pretty neat.
Talk about awkward..
I never, EVER mention anything Japanese at all to my parents.
Yet today at the dinner table they started questioning me about it:
Since you're so fascinated with Japan, why don't you get into Japanese Logistics.
Do you know any words in Japanese? Any sentences?
Do you know what banzai and seppuku means?
Now, keep in mind I'm shy as fuck when people ask about stuff like that. Said to my parents I won't tell shit, and quickly left the dinner table.
Fuck.
I totally feel you man.. That used to happen a lot with me, but I always tried any conversation about Japan..
Then they let me start taking Japanese for about a year (because I really wanted to), but then I had to stop because my dad made me start playing American football and they sent me to a much harder school, so it was nearly impossible to keep on studying or even have a social life.. Then they would say things like "Oh, are you not interested in Japanese? Was that just phase?" and I always have to remind them it was not and all.. I can't talk about any of my interest with my parents because of their strong opinions, they're judgmental, and they're old..
I also had a planned trip to go to Japan, but to go to this school I had to go to summer school, so that was canceled.. That's probably part of the reasonI hated that school when coming in. I hope, just maybe I will be able to make it to Japan this winter - I plan on staying at a friends place
TL;DR - I feel you
Well it isn't different from other cartoons. Because it's cartoons.
No shit
I meant that I didn't know that people called it anime instead.

Anything friendship related hits my weakspot, so i was a wreck while watching most episodes.

Oh and

I was introduced to anime via television, and the first series I remember were Escaflowne, Slayers, Pokemon, Digimon, Neon Genesis Evangelion, Tobe! Isami and so on.
I happened to live in an age where TV channels still aired good anime shows in a normal basis, as time passed TV stopped airing anime altogether except for TV channels aimed for kids, so that means only stuff like Beyblade, Doraemon or Inazuma Eleven gets still aired today.

I think this might be the case, I happen to find Mutta a very relatable character, and a lot of things he goes through at the beginning of the series hit me pretty hard, specially the "being at the shadow of lucky others despite working very hard" bit.
Also, I'm a sucker for emotional stuff that involves family, and there's a lot of that between the two main brothers.
I've been watching anime since I was four or five. I would watch anime until I passed out (Toonami). I was adopted when I was seven, and when I turned eight or nine my father said I couldn't watch cartoons anymore.. So I had like a two year break from anime, but when I turned ten I got the first two Naruto box sets. I was watching anime and reading manga ALL the time after that happened.. All that my father did was slow me down I guess you can say :v:
My brother introduced me to anime when I was like 3 or 4. Every evening, we'd watch Gundam or DBZ together. After he started living on his own, I went to go watch Pokemon, Digimon, Cardcaptors, Inuyasha and other stuff with my sister.

I mostly smiled and laughed in the first couple of episodes.
Can't see what was so sad about it, other than him being very unlucky with his job.
