I was introduced to anime by watching Toonami and Naruto. Didn't truly explore the wonders of anime until I came here around 2009.
I didn't really get "into" anime until this year, before that though I had watched shows that aired on TV. Mainly Dragonball, Digimon, Pokemon, Beyblade and any others I would watch online. The only anime I had really completed were Naruto, Elfen Lied and Mobile Suit Gundam Wing.
I started watching anime before I can even remember, with Dragon Ball and Gundam, then we went back to only having 5 tv channels, and I stopped watching until 2006 when I got back into anime through reading manga
I mostly smiled and laughed in the first couple of episodes. Can't see what was so sad about it.
It was not sad exactly, it was more emotional than anything. All those flashbacks where you see the brothers' childhood and what Mutta and the other people around him are going through... I don't know, that kind of stuff is my weak spot
i've never watched anime

What was the first anime ya watched? My first was when I was like 6 or 7 years old when my mom rented some cassette tape of some ecchi anime. Dunno why she rented it and showed it to me, the only memory I have of that anime was some chick covered in green slime trapped behind a couch and another scene was two chicks taking a bath together and then one of them jumped out the window with only a towel around her.
Is it sad that the only reason I got into anime was because of a weeaboo in my 8th grade class who brought a Naruto manga in one day?
I got into anime by seeing my brother watch Azumanga Diaoh. Then I started watching slice of life, then is spread out from there.
What was the first anime ya watched?
Dragonball
y'know what really fucking gets me is when a character dies in a school anime. Especially due to natural causes. all my tears. all of em.
What was the first anime ya watched?
Scrapping the ones who were on TV (Dragonball, Pokemon etc.) it was Girls Bravo. Damn, I loved it back then.

Only because since the Pokemon Dub first started airing , the VHS tapes had a trailer after the credits for Kimba the Lion and Ranma 1/2 the first movie. I regret nothing.
y'know what really fucking gets me is when a character dies in a school anime. Especially due to natural causes. all my tears. all of em.
Even in school days? Cause I was so fucking happy when [sp]Makoto died[/sp]
My first was Pokemon but other than the obvious TV ones...Naruto and probably no Index. I had a teacher who was paralyzed and couldn't really move her fingers in 4th grade who was a huge fan of Toonami. I think we even watched some in class one time. If I remember correctly when she was younger she was out with friends and she dove head first onto a metal barrel under the water of a lake. She was a great teacher. During a test she checked mine and gave it back telling me there was some wrong answers. She didn't tell me which but that was the kind of teacher she was. Never had a teacher like that again.
I wasn't introducted to anime before I was... 12 I think? I watched Highschool of the Dead with my cousin, and got curious after that.
Yea, if pokemon counts then pokemon would've been my first. I still have the entire first season on VHS at my grandparent's house. VHS
Dragonball Z, then FOX cancelled it, then Funimation did a redub for it on Toonami First one subbed was either D.N. Angel or Gundam X, can't remember [editline]25th July 2012[/editline]
Yea, if pokemon counts then pokemon would've been my first.
Even in school days? Cause I was so fucking happy when [sp]Makoto died[/sp]
haven't played school days yet, but a great example that got my teared up would be Da Capo. An example would be [sp]in the end, memories fade- the "robot" looses self conscious, and somewhat "dies".. The real person remains in a comatose state. While the robot copy felt emotion, and etc. The wish that was granted to the cat, she becomes somewhat human, and in the end she returns to being a cat.. Forgetting what it was like to be human. Yoshino dies in regret (also to reverse the effects of what she caused) due to the horrible thing that she had wished- for Asakura to forget.. Basically a really bad case of amnesia. When Yoshino does die, her memories are restored, and basically in the end of it all it leaves only two people together in a relationship while everybody dies off in natural causes.[/sp]
What was the first anime ya watched?
Pokemon when I was younger, but more recently, it was Haruhi Suzumiya that got me interested in other anime.
Digimon and DBZ. Then there was Spirited Away and some other random anime movies i saw as little. Then Naruto till i found this thread and watched Death Note.
What was the first anime ya watched?
My Neighbor Totoro on VHS. Rented so many times from the local video store.
What was the first anime ya watched?
Sailor Moon or some Gundam anime.
Anybody know anything similar to Great Teacher Onizuka? In terms of quality humor, and having plot. Please don't tell me something that'll hurt me feelings (Clannad). I don't mind shows that'll make you tear up, but if you do know something good, please be gentle.
So I decided to watch Sengoku collection on the side because it was essentially the opposite of Oda Nobuna no Yabou. I don't really care for ecchi anime at all, so the first couple of episodes almost made me stop watching it. I'm glad i didn't though, because it starts becoming better starting at episode 5, as it focuses more on comedy than ecchi shit. If I were to recommend anybody to pick one specific episode to watch, i'd say start with #8 or #5 to see if you'll like it. I also remember somebody posting a snapshot from the beginning of episode #6 a while back (was that this thread?).
I need some really HD and realistic looking anime
I need some really HD and realistic looking anime
Haruka and the Magic Mirror and Cat Shit One come to mind for "really HD and realistic looking".

As for realism, uuh it's anime?
I need some really HD and realistic looking anime
Just the backgrounds? Because 5 centimeters per second does a really good job.
I totally feel you man.. That used to happen a lot with me, but I always tried any conversation about Japan.. Then they let me start taking Japanese for about a year (because I really wanted to), but then I had to stop because my dad made me start playing American football and they sent me to a much harder school, so it was nearly impossible to keep on studying or even have a social life.. Then they would say things like "Oh, are you not interested in Japanese? Was that just phase?" and I always have to remind them it was not and all.. I can't talk about any of my interest with my parents because of their strong opinions, they're judgmental, and they're old.. I also had a planned trip to go to Japan, but to go to this school I had to go to summer school, so that was canceled.. That's probably part of the reasonI hated that school when coming in. I hope, just maybe I will be able to make it to Japan this winter - I plan on staying at a friends place TL;DR - I feel you
Perhaps one day all of us white pigguru baka gaijins can weeaboo it up in Japan
