I think we can all appreciate this modern philosopher

Sagan, guy really knows how to open your mind and see that our squabbles and fruitless wars yeild nothing but our demise.
The Earth is a very small stage in a vast cosmic arena. Think of the rivers of blood spilled by all those generals and emperors so that in glory and triumph they could become the momentary masters of a fraction of a dot. Think of the endless cruelties visited by the inhabitants of one corner of this pixel on the scarcely distinguishable inhabitants of some other corner. How frequent their misunderstandings, how eager they are to kill one another, how fervent their hatreds. Our posturings, our imagined self-importance, the delusion that we have some privileged position in the universe, are challenged by this point of pale light. Our planet is a lonely speck in the great enveloping cosmic dark. In our obscurity – in all this vastness – there is no hint that help will come from elsewhere to save us from ourselves.
The protagonist and the antagonist in my head.
Sagan, guy really knows how to open your mind and see that our squabbles and fruitless wars yeild nothing but our demise.
"Our delusion that we have some privileged position in the universe." If that isn't the biggest load of high heresy then I don't know what is. We are the only rightful rulers of the universe! :vs:

Gabriel Marcel is my homeboy. He can be kind of a feeler, but his idea of hope and being thankful for what we have has helped through rough times.

Now a serious question: do we need to have a favourite philosopher? I know literature covers all kinds of viewpoints with philosophers and great works, but then it's only you who has to formulate his/her own stance on things. If you aren't too arrogant and listen to people around you, you will find out some stuff on your own too.
