I recently discovered how fun and immersive modded Skyrim is. Among all those mods I installed Alternate Start and Frostfall mod, which gave me one of the most exciting gaming experiences ever.
So basically Alternate Start lets you to choose some other starting scenario rather than original Helgen one. I picked "captured by Thalmor" one. Spawned locked up in cell which is in hostile elven castle, at northernmost point of the map. Inquisitor came, asked me about other captured fellow Talos worshippers, I denied to give any information and he gave me a jolt with lighting spell.
He walked away, saying he will return later. Using this moment, I broke out of chains (Yes, there is a minigame which lets you break out) and tried to sneak out. But after many tries I realized its impossible, as my sneak skill was too low at start. Hell, I even tried to backstab one of the guards but they blade-raped me in several seconds.
So what do I do? I simply leeroy jenkins out of the dungeon, dodging all guard elves until I reach door to the outside. I sprint out of the courtyard, dodging all arrows and Thalmor footmen behind me. Eventually those who chased me turn around and return to keep. They decide its better to let hypothermia end me, rather than chase half-naked imperial around frozen coastline.
And then I know that the hardest part begins now. It's a long way to nearest town, which is Solitude. There are giant walruses that don't look friendly, plus two wolves and I just have iron dagger and ragged clothes. And seconds after escaping I already feel very cold. Somehow I manage to avoid them all, make a campfire and avoid death by freezing. After warming up a bit, decision is made to run to Solitude ASAP. Just after setting out, I came upon a fight between a dark mage and one of those walruses. Already wounded by walrus, dark mage is low on health and I finish her with my dagger. I strip her corpse of warm clothes - robes, fur hood, boots and cloak. I can't believe how lucky I'm, so I make haste to Solitude.
I finally arrive. Half frozen, starving, thirsty and exhausted (I also have basic needs mod). I open doors of that one tavern. Barkeeper greets a suspicious, shaking man in bristly, frost covered robes:
[I]"Traitors, Civil Wars, dragons. Bah. Those troubles don't cross my doorway. So sit, relax."[/I]
Damn right I will. And my adventure just started. Now, I will rest and tomorrow, those damn elves will have a new thing to fear during their patrols.
