Do deployed soldiers receive any masturbation-letters from random women by any chance? Or any funny fan-mail for that matter? Also I'm not trolling. At least I don't think I'm trolling.

I don't know about the funny fan mail though. Usually it is just church groups or other community organizations that think it is fun to have kids write to us. That can get funny because you sometimes can't understand what they write.
Did you join when you were 18?
Ha I kind of edited another side question, but alright :v: funny army facepunch dude
Did you join when you were 18?
I joined when I was 17, but I turned 18 three days later. [editline]23rd July 2012[/editline] I am 19 now though.
If you could be deployed with any type of gun in existence, which one would it be? Or do you already like the standard issue M4?
Will you take part in infantry combat when deployed, and if so what will be your roll?
If you could be deployed with any type of gun in existence, which one would it be? [editline]23rd July 2012[/editline]
Will you take part in infantry combat when deployed, and if so what will be your roll?
I will not take part in infantry combat. That is why we have a specific MOS dedicated to infantry. However, if an aircraft goes down we are loaded up with a bunch of pathfinders and special forces to secure the crash site and see what we can do for the helicopter to get it back to base. That is the only time I would see combat. However, these almost never happen.
I don't get why people hate the M4 so much. I love mine.
Meh I just find it to be rather generic. My favorite guns would be the P90 and just about any sniper rifle.
Meh I just find it to be rather generic. My favorite guns would be the P90 and just about any sniper rifle.
It's not a video game, whatever a soldier is comfortable with is what counts. Being trained with the weapon throughout basic can do that.
Hey I'm not recommending what weapons he should use,I'm just giving my opinion on why the M4 isn't my favorite gun and saying which guns are my favorite.
Meh I just find it to be rather generic. My favorite guns would be the P90 and just about any sniper rifle.
I like my M4 because I can engage at many many ranges, and it also has a lot of useful attachments. Since I am platoon grenadier, I have an M4-M203 with an M68 Aimpoint CCO on it. Don't let CCO fool you. It is dead easy to engage targets at 300 meters with it. I see people with grippods and ACOGs on theirs too. The M4 is also face friendly, as there is no external bolt handle that moves. It is also very light (unless it has an M203 on it like mine). m4s and m16s are also about on-par at 300 meters, after that you will see a difference though.
Little known (or not, I don't know) fact: The M4 is not fully automatic. It has safe, single, and 3 round burst.
5.56 has very little drop until about 300+ meters [editline]23rd July 2012[/editline]
Little known (or not, I don't know) fact: The M4 is not fully automatic.
5.56 has very little drop until about 300+ meters
We can still effectively engage targets at 500 meters, though it is harder. sendme a stick of c4 [editline]23rd July 2012[/editline] does the hellfire have to be powered on like the maverick, or cooled before usage?
sendme a stick of c4 [editline]23rd July 2012[/editline] does the hellfire have to be powered on like the maverick, or cooled before usage?
Odd question. You just kind of shove them on the rack, and the pilots take care of the rest. I believe all they have to do is arm the hellfire which uncages its seeker head, its "eye", and it will follow the laser beam that the MMS puts out. [editline]23rd July 2012[/editline] I would love to stay and answer more questions Facepunch, but I need some sleep before PT at 0700. I will answer questions when I wake up, and when I get back from PT. It should also be an easy maintenance day at the hangar, so I might be back earlier than usual. 'Night FP.
Do they also train you to survive anything you may have to deal with on the field? And what was some of the worst experiences you have had since joining the army

Do you know if there is a variety of weapons used in combat? Like in some video games it's "here's a shitload of weapons pick some and shoot people" Or is it mostly standard issued weapons that are nearly the same?
Do they also train you to survive anything you may have to deal with on the field? And what was some of the worst experiences you have had since joining the army
They don't train us how to survive anything, that is mostly what SERE school is for, which is a school that pilots and special operations forces go to. I think that one of the worst experiences I have had in the Army was the 4 day FTX that we did at the end of basic. It was cold as all get out outside, so much so that we woke up not being able to feel anything. We all sometimes hung around the generator, holding our hands under the exhaust, which would warm them immensely, but as soon as you took them away from it, all the heat just left. I hate the cold. [editline]24th July 2012[/editline]
Do you know if there is a variety of weapons used in combat? Like in some video games it's "here's a shitload of weapons pick some and shoot people" Or is it mostly standard issued weapons that are nearly the same?
As I have said before, we are issued weapons based upon what the troop needs. I was randomly assigned to qualify on the M203 range, so I went there, qualified expert, came back, and was issued an M4-M203. Others went to the M249 and M240B ranges, as well as the M9 ranges. We also all requalified on M4's. That is the extent of the weapons that we as an aviation unit get. Remember, in the Army, you almost never get to pick what you want. [editline]24th July 2012[/editline] Alright guys, off to PT.
Unless someone asked before, do you have any sort of fear such as being shot down or the helicopter may get a malfunction of sorts?
Unless someone asked before, do you have any sort of fear such as being shot down or the helicopter may get a malfunction of sorts?
I don't fly in the helicopter I work on, as the Kiowa Warrior only has two seats, one for the pilot, and the other for the copilot gunner. So, I don't have fear of being shot down. I also don't fear that the helicopter will malfunction, because I trust my work on the helicopter. If something breaks that was part of the maintenance I did, my ass is going to get an article 15. However, helicopters do have gremlins in them so they sometimes randomly malfunction. It is usually not serious, as the flight critical components are the most cared for on the aircraft. [editline]24th July 2012[/editline] OK guys, off to work.
Little known (or not, I don't know) fact: The M4 is not fully automatic. It has safe, single, and 3 round burst.
the M4A1 is I guess you don't get issued those though do you use the burst or semi more? I'm guessing semi, seems more useful.
the M4A1 is I guess you don't get issued those though do you use the burst or semi more? I'm guessing semi, seems more useful.
We never ever use burst. We are trained to shoot in controlled pairs. Burst is just too inaccurate. [editline]24th July 2012[/editline] That, and it makes your ammo last a lot longer when shooting on semi.
How is that funny?
Is it ever too late to join the army? Say when you were in college you never really did any training or anything and you suddenly felt like serving.
Is it ever too late to join the army? Say when you were in college you never really did any training or anything and you suddenly felt like serving.
There is an age limit, but that is it. There was a 34 year old mother that was in my BCT platoon.
