By the way, the history genre for the OP is meant for shows having historical elements in them or being based in the old times. As in 1950 and down or something around there.
So Spice and Wolf is historical, and Sengoku Basara is definitely historical.

Yeah, but they don't really focus on the technology too much, other than alchemical technology which doesn't really count.
Basically it does fit with being historical, but the show doesn't focus on that in any way whatsoever, so it's not really good as a recommendation for someone looking for something historical.
Now FMA: The Conqueror of Shambala on the other hand definitely fits in the historical genre because it deals with historical events.
