Well animes are just TV series, but I mean they are usually more expensive because they have to record new voice work etc for American releases and a bunch more shit.
And sometimes you just get ripped the fuck off. They used to sell DVDs with TWO episodes of FLCL for about $20 each. I think you can get a box set of the series for cheaper though. I dunno. Anime is reallllly expensive.

What? The old art was classy, really made for some great expressions you wouldn't get with the clean artstyle today. I also liked how it oozed with technical problems at times, like at the start of every episode they just had to let it stand still for a while so they could turn on the sound and then play the movie accordingly or something like that.

Well it really depends on what series. $5 per episode was Pokemon and Yu-Gi-Oh. You can get the complete Dragon Ball Z series for $200 or so.

depends on the series, if it is not popular in dubbed form it's more expensive, but it it is extremely popular, then it becomes piss cheap, but there are some shows that are not popular that are cheap.
In China, you can buy the entire series for around $5, which is incredibly cheap
