Yeah 4 does a number of things really well, but overall it's a lesser game.
Sims 3 for much more content but somewhat buggier and definitely laggier
Sims 4 for less content that just generally works better, doesn't lag as much, and super fancy social features, house building features and that inspiration thing.

Also I love what 4 did with the emotions system. The idea of sims being something other than just happy or sad was great.
Also multitasking is probably the greatest thing to be added to the series.

Pretty much. It added a lot of great things, but it was missing a lot more.
But so did 3 when it came out. The shitty business model for the series is the gut the content from the previous game and resell it later. Doesn't help that the next Sims 4 expansion looks like it adds fuck all.
But the problem is that a bunch of stuff that was in 3 and not in 4 isn't the kind of thing that can be reintroduced later. Namely the open world.

I bought a new headset off amazon to replace my current dangly, bad, broken-at-first-glance one.
I also bought a USB hub because my computer has like 4 usb ports that function at all.
Spent ~$80... but it will be worth it I think.
