Was it anything like in the book One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest?
Do you think going there helped you? Or do you think it was all a big wast of time?
Do you think this is the right solution for people with mental problems? Or do you think there are better ways to get healthy then an institute?
Did you gain any insights of concepts/structures/wisdom/ideas perceived by the more, mad patients?
I often forget how fascinated I am by the idea and possibility of insanity. Without trying to downplay diagnosed cases as I have never seen or asked a doctor, I thoroughly believe I have had my stint of drug induced madness through stupidity.
Not really. Some people were nice, others weren't, but if anything I've learned that the craziest people are just uninteresting dangerous people. The whole "mad wise guy" thing is a myth, especially considering that the stronger your case is, the more drugged you are.
Did the institution in question have any ghost stories linked to it?
Nope.
was there TV's or consoles to games play
There were two TVs, both of which were usually playing the top10 songs at the time. Having to listen to fucking gangnam style in a loop for so long just destroyed my eardrums.
There was also a wii console but we had to ask the staff to take it out and plug it and it was pretty tedious so we ended up using it like three times.
I've always found the 'Disabled' toilets to be really clean and comfortable, are they the same in the institute?
They were like any other toilets I ever used.
Was it anything like in the book One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest?
Haven't read the book. Saw parts of the movie. Cuckoo's nest is about an institution for much harsher cases though, where I've been the worst cases where the windows are barred, everyone has to wear the same clothes and you're getting followed everywhere by the staff are put apart.
Would you ever want to go back there?
No I don't.
Do you think going there helped you? Or do you think it was all a big wast of time?
It didn't really help me enough to balance for all the shit it got me into. I almost failed my entire year of studies because of it (made me miss a few exams) and when you're in college getting back on 2 weeks of missed lessons is a bitch. Not to mention some of our classes like phonetics really require constant presence to get everything right and being away for two weeks was enough to throw me completely off balance.
I was in a mental institution for two weeks as well, it wasn't as bad as movies like One Who Flew Over The Cuckoo's Nest made it out to be.
For anyone curious, I was in for suicidal attempts and ideation this past November. I'm on meds now and doing a lot better.
Where in the south was it? I live in the south of france! Maybe it wasn't far from me..

[sp]bonne continuation avec tes études gros, j'espère que tu sens mieux après tout ça! A plus![/sp]
Did you got "drugged" or used meds?
Did you got "drugged" or used meds?
I had to take a few meds, yes. I had a basic anxiolytic treatment because the psychiatrist I saw was persuaded I was too socially awkward for my own good and decided to dope me with some drug that's supposed to take the anxiety away. I'm not exactly socially awkward and I don't have problem with socializing so that part was just complete shit. Not to mention I wasn't used at all to taking a treatment (I barely ever take meds) so it got me insanely tired, to the point I couldn't wake up to go to college.
