And characters aside, TF2 is just soooo not fun for me anymore. The game's deader than dead as far as I'm concerned. I really don't agree with the directions Valve took it at all.

Overwatch seems to remedy a lot of the problems I had and brings some new enough ideas to the table. It's similar enough to what I loved about TF2 that it gets me interested, but different enough from the parts of modern TF2 that I think are shit to make me care.

To me, that just means there's no clear direction or common theme to the world which makes writing a compelling story that deeply involves the lore impossible. It literally might as well not be there since if you try to learn more you're either going to hurt your enjoyment of the game or ignore it and do your own cool thing.
