You're basically in the same position as my friend, he isn't allowed to buy portable gaming consoles (PSP, DS etc) for basically the same reasons you mentioned.
I'm assuming you have said it's for boring car trips and also you probably will play it at home.
Not sure about your parents, but i just nagnagnagnagnagnagnagnag and argue to the point that i just won't let it go. That's how i bought Killing Floor off steam :v: a good hour or two of proving my points of why Steam is safe etc etc
Same with buying the laptop i'm currently on. We were going to buy a HP laptop instead (basically the same one binary bought) but i said i wanted to research the specs of it. Then found a better laptop online, my parents didn't trust the Internet so they kept insisting no, which is understandable, because once $2000 mysteriously dissapeared off my mum's bank account, and was used on some random PC website. We contacted the bank and got it fixed.
Maybe i should setup a bank account sometime :/

lol atleast think of what you're going to say, then ask. I usually ask why i can't, and build my argument from there. Or if i can't think of anything, i leave, think of argument, say "You said i coudn't get x because of <reason>, right?" then yeah start your argument.
