That may be it for you, but not for others. This is all mainly directed at FPS games: I can clearly see a difference between 30 fps and 45 fps. I think 30 is terrible, and I can't stand playing at that low of a framerate, while 45 is my personal minimum. That's when I stop worrying about framerate. However I can still clearly see a difference up to about 90 fps. While a gradual increase from 90 is almost unnoticeable, there is still a visible difference between 90 and 120. Anything above about 120 looks the same. The only games I can think of that are exempt from this are RTS games. A framerate of 30-45 is acceptable, while a framerate of 60 is all you really need. People have different preferences to framerates, and some people notice a framerate change more than others.
