I'm still astounded by how good GTA V looks

I am really afraid of how science is advancing as far as our understanding of the brain. I know it is cool to make progress as far as learning connections between music and the brain, sex and the brain, pretty much anything and the brain - but I just can't shake the fear that these developments are obviously leading to brain monitoring and manipulation. I mean for the medical and psychological benefit of the patient, why wouldn't we want to have a better understanding and grasp of the brain? But what scares me, what terrifies me, is the ability to use that knowledge and power for bad. I mean think about it, the government would obviously want to know this stuff first, and then what is stopping them from delving into brain probes? Mind alteration? The sovereignty of ones own psyche is what makes us human, and the thought that the government could simply scan a brain to find illegal thoughts or a criminal could scan a brain to find passwords or an asshole could scan a brain to torment someone or the government altering someones brain, or the brains of the masses is simply terrifying. I just do not trust that knowledge to be used for good forever and I fear the end of individuality and of privacy. Even if it means a murder case is solved, no one has the right to look into someones brain. Even if it means the elimination of crime, minds should not be controlled. But it is unlikely that the government will see it the same way.
