The only scary level in that game was The Cradle.
Yeah, I'm pretty sure that was his point. The Cradle is apparently fucking terrifying.
F.E.A.R is very much bandwagon.
It started because some guys were pissed of because of its screamers...
But if you say its "all cheap screamers" then you didn't played it or played it drunk. In fact, it is quite original at most points.
Most people didn't even played it, but just want to be edgy and cool so they just say it on the Internet.
Its not that kind of Amnesia scary, where you just sit in your cratehouse and shit your pants, its more like your feet are shaking but you wan't keep playing, because the story and as said the scary moments are very original.
So, do yourself a favor and play it before you rate it. You should borrow it from a friend, and if you got too much cash to spare buy it on steam. Its just about 10 bucks for the game and inclusive 2 addons.
Minecraft without torches :ohdear:

Silent Hill :v: :suicide: :fml:
Doom 3 I cant play it for to long as its the scares the hell out of me and there is dark and then there's doom 3 and every closet had a imp that jumped out at you
Download the Ghosthunt map for GMod. Sure, there's scarier stuff out there, but that map is pretty goddamn intense. And it always has new surprises.
My current list to get:
Doom 3
Dead Space 1 and 2
Maybe FEAR
System Shock 2
Condemned: Criminal Origins
LSD, but its for PS1, its SCARY AS FUCKING SHIT for me, gave me a hard night after watching some youtube gameplays in mute.

Doom 3
lol no
F.E.A.R. 1 and 2
Yume Nikki has a hard to explain atmosphere. It's not exactly scary, more of you feel like you're in despair, somewhat. It's free and it's totally worth giving a try.
lol no
Doom 3 had a LOT of cheap scares. Whose idea was it to put random elevators in the floor with lil cubbies for zombies and imps (aka Monster Closets)??
Still a fucking awesome game, though.
Nightmare House 2 scared me at some points.
It's a free game modification, but I think you need HL2:Ep2 for it to work.

Or you can play this game

That's fucking creepy box art.
I'm surprised no one mentioned that old Half-Life 2 mod "Get a Life".

Made me jump out of my chair a lot, especially since I have arachnophobia.
Penumbra: Black Plague (Overture was not so scary and Requiem was just puzzles; I enjoyed Black Plague the most).
Amnesia: The Dark Descent.
Oh, and the original DOOM games.
God, I still have nightmares about those "Lost Souls".

:ohdear:
Doom isn't scary when you are a complete badass and you run like 20 miles per hour.
System shock
System Shock 2 is scarier.
almost forgot about The Suffering
Thief 3: Deadly Shadows.
Anybody who has ever played through the whole game would agree with me.
Jesus, I remember that game! The asylum scared the shit out of me!
While amnesia was a TON scarier, the librarians were indeed fucking terrifying, i seriously could not get out of there fast enough
I killed all of them by throwing knives in their faces. :v: Most of them couldn't even get close before they were dead.
Not a lot usually scares me, but I always feel creeped out in fallout 3 whenever I'm forced to go though an unterground tunnel.
Amnesia, and sometimes Metro 2033. I get startled easily. Also half life 2 in raveholm.
