Artists seem to forget that the entire Earth can fit in the Red Spot like twice.
entire Earth can fit in the Red Spot like twice.
Yeah, you'd have no chance of seeing right across it like that It's a sort of scale that's hard to get your head around as an earthling I always loved those paintings though
It's so unfortunate too cause, it can't be beyond the wit of man to just send a (relatively speaking) cheap probe there to take some HD pictures, see what it actually looks like from above and the inside. Though sadly the result is probably just gonna be noise on the inside for the most part.
Juno will orbit within a few thousand miles of the upper atmosphere and take probably the most detailed photographs of Jupiter thus far Arrives in July 2016
Doesn't Jupiter have electrical storms? My question is, how easy would it actually be for the "cheap" probe to send out data while inside Jupiter?

The probe wouldn't last long at all due to the incredible pressures, temperatures, and windspeeds that are found in Jupiter's clouds, so even if it was able to get some decent pictures, it wouldn't last anywhere near long enough to get any decent pictures through. Hell, photos from the New Horizons probe are still coming through, and it's been three months since it's flyby.
Doesn't Jupiter have electrical storms? My question is, how easy would it actually be for the "cheap" probe to send out data while inside Jupiter?
The more pressing issue of exploring Jupiter is getting probes through its radiation belts intact.

Let's see... We got Zeus, Galileo, and some 50s housewife. Neat.

Sending a probe in to the interior of jupiter isnt that easy, it has to basically withstand the most difficult reentry we can throw at it. If I recall the probe we sent into jupiter was actually the most intensive reentry ever experienced by a manmade object. I am not sure what cameras can withstand forces on the order of 230g.

The lower-frequency wavelengths all get filtered out and you'd see essentially a blue sky. Towering pillars of cloud that fade off into the distance like huge mountains on earth. Once the pressures get up high enough some even weirder shit happens.

How?" you might ask, and I would agree. I guess it probably has to do with its larval stage.

The Owlfly larva is extremely unique from most larval-to-aerial insects, considering that it spends a long time in a ground-based stage.

And the fact that it is a voracious predator. What makes it unique in this aspect is that it is an ambush/pursue predator, actively seeking out and attacking prey rather than lying in wait. It essentially "tackles" its prey and delivers a deadly bite, much like a big cat or wild dog. Terrifying, right? You know, I was never really a fan of Herzog and De Meuron until I took an architecture course last year. Then again, I was never really a fan of Frank Gehry, but now at least I understand and appreciate why he does what he does. That class changed me. Rem Koolhaas is still my favorite postmodernist, though.
