Its certainly real, though for some reason it looks like the shot actually changes when it detonates, I think its still the same set of houses just from a spot further to the right.
Maybe the first camera got fried by the heat or something
I think it's the same spot, but with a camera perspective slightly to the right of the one before the detonation

Oh it does change, the first few seconds is to illustrate how the scene looks before the detonation.
They had to record the actual explosion with different settings, or else the video would be completely white!
Since there was no way of automatically changing the cameras settings and film, it means manually changing the camera settings and the film to something that can deal with the scorching bright light of the bomb.
