My 600D died, then I managed to fix it with spare parts from another camera, then later it died again. I was going to buy a really cheap used 7D, then my divorced father heard about me losing my camera and out of nowhere decided to buy me a 6D. (I barely have ANY contact with my father)
Nikon D7100 represent
D3s represent. With a 14-24 and a 24-70. I need a smaller camera. And smaller lenses too.
So, the Tall Ships Race has ended yesterday, and Aalborg is the final stop. Four days of big ol' boats, and a big firework show Monday night. Spiny-tailed monitors are diurnal, solitary ground-dwellers which are often seen under rock slabs, boulders, rock cervices and rarely in spinifex grass. They feed mainly on insects (especially orthopterans and beetles) but are known to take other lizards and young mammals.
It's like a reptilian longcat.

That looks really cool, makes me feel like it is some ancient gate that something evil came out of eons ago. (obviously I don't think this I just play a lot of fantasy and it rubs off)

"buy facebook likes" seems like something people would do today
[t]http://i.cubeupload.com/vSXpog.jpeg[/t]
The ironic thing about these images is they're always plastered over Facebook and other social media sites with titles like "OMG so true".
Holy fuckshits The crowd that showed up for Denmarks biggest firework show yet... I wish they'd have Tall Ships Race a little more often in Aalborg! I'll get around to uploading some of pictures of the ships taking from a boat on the water, and some video of the firework itself, sometime tomorrow...

It would be cool if our ship could go but I don't think shes sailed the ocean under her own power in decades. It's been in and out of sea-worthiness. It's half museum piece, half operational vessel. [img_thumb]http://i.imgur.com/J7yQDBU.jpg[/img_thumb] [img_thumb]http://i.imgur.com/LV0ZNC4.jpg[/img_thumb] I've only been on it once as a tour, but the Captain was very enthusiastic and they welcome everyone of all skill levels and will teach you what you need to know provided you're able and willing. They bought it back from a scrap yard in Greece after learning of its history to our city and a volunteer crew restored it to it's current state. It was in really bad shape as it sat in a scrapyard for years. All the masts were cut off and it was converted into a steam ship with a bridge on top. They basically had to rebuild it. After the overhaul she was able to sail to New York under her own power for the Statue of Liberty Centennial Celebration where she joined other tall ships like the USS Constitution. Then hurricane Ike did a number to it and she was knocked out of service for some time. But she's back, and last I checked she was sea worthy again. At least for putsing around the Gulf of Mexico. I don't know why I find tall ships so fascinating. I guess it's just the history behind them and how they enabled the expansion of civilization. Replicas are cool but original builds just have so much history behind them. Like I said, the Elissa has been remodeled so many times that just about the only original parts on it are the cast iron hull frames, and the wooden fireplace mantel and the arm rest in the captains quarters. But to me its still like, That's a 138 year old piece of wood that's experienced every expedition that ship went on. It's been around the world, seen ports from all over, and listened in on many-a captains conversations. And the fact that it's still a functioning ship is awesome to me. That ship has outlived the steamship that took its place. It's a living museum. http://www.galvestonhistory.org/attractions/maritime-heritage/1877-tall-ship-elissa It's even got a craft beer named after it! [editline]3rd August 2015[/editline] I would sail it, or ride if I ever got the chance, no questions asked. Though I'm a bit unsure I would meet the physical requirements to crew it at sea. As I've said before I have hip replacements and I'm unsure if the rigorous climbing and pulling would agree with me. But damn, I'd love to do it. [editline]3rd August 2015[/editline] http://www.tsr15.dk/ships/?klasse=1757 Got that from the Aalborg Tall Ship Races site. Really cool. A lot of old ships in that. Only a hand full older than 1900. That's very impressive they're still in condition.
tall ship stuff
the Italian navy maintains a huge tall ship manned for the purpose of training its midshipmen to full officers as far as i understand. i've accidentally wandered into their graduation or commencement ceremony a couple of times bc my family live outside of Venice. some times they race it in the aforementioned competition, and i know it's sailed to the Americas before. i'm sure other European navies do the same. [editline]4th August 2015[/editline] woah dang here's a sweet pic of it
