Rolly Pollies or Pillbugs are common names around here in Illinois
Call em potatoe bugs
I call em woodlice.

This is also a "Potato Bug".
Actually it is the Jerusalem Cricket, or [i]Stenopelmatus navajo[/i]. There are several species of Jerusalem Cricket, most of them living in the southwestern United States. They make noises to attract mates, but instead of the usual cricket "song", they beat their abdomen against the ground rhythmically.
Where I'm from they're called rollie-pollie-roundy-brownie-leggy-spleggings.

In Oregon and Washington I've only ever heard them called pillbugs or potato bugs. So it looks like it's fairly consistent across the US in comparison to the UK.
