There wasn't much being hung around during during Vietnam I believe.
The war was heavily televised so propaganda was pretty difficult to mask the filming of the reality of the battlefields.

Here's a documentary about deserted American soldiers during the Korean war. One of whom was black and was issued with recording and I think writing messages to other black American soldiers during the Vietnam war, much alike this letter here.

The head of an Velvet Worm. They are centipede-like predators. They suck the bodily fluids of their prey using a pair of rasping claws in their mouths, which can be seen in the image above. Although they look like caterpillars, they are not even arthropods, but instead the last surviving members of a group of animals that once dominated the seas some 500 million years ago. The above image makes them look like a Lovecraftian nightmare, but they are actually quite cute.
