In my opinion there's two kind's of brutalism. There's more organic and well though out brutalism like Louis Kahn's works, most of them which are pure sex, and then there's this monotone soviet housing block type brutalism which always looks like shit and depressing. Brutalism can work great if the real nature of the materials used is understood and the design itself has some thought put to it. But on the other it's really easy to fuck it up.
I think Brutalist architecture aged poorly.
Hopefully much of it will be demolished to make way for new buildings: If ISIS blew up this disgusting turd, the British would recognize the Caliphate by teatime. This isn't the fucking flying car and android industrial plant, it's a conference center in Berlin. Given the war crimes of Germany in the past century I'm surprised the architect who designed this wasn't put on trial for crimes against good taste.
that second one looks more postmodern than brustalist tbh

Simon Fraser University's main building and library is an amazing structure and to top it off it was built on the top of a fucking mountain.
IMHO, brightly colored buildings like this are ugly.
I disagree fully. They make me feel comforted and warm. There is a street like that near me in Fayetteville, has some really old, beautiful buildings. Shame it's a diamond in the middle of ghettopolis. Also, regarding the church posting. Regardless what you think of religion, the architecture and art it brought about is some of the most incredible, beautiful stuff ever made.
That's the Tollan homeworld from Stargate SG1.
I believe it's also the courtyard where gaius baltar meets the first model 6 cylon.
TBH I dont think brutalism is even ugly, I think that some buildings are ugly regardless of their style.
