I own it, the first time you play it you will have a heart attack from all the controls. Starting the mech up requires six toggle switches and three buttons.
Also there's a button to clean the windows.

tba I'm kinda glad the results show significantly less eastern voters than voters of both.

I think just about EVERY mecha has a Dues Ex Machina button
Anyway:
I think that the typical japanese mechs, like Gundam, are just stupidly designed they look like that they're trying to be parodies of mechs. Most of them just look like guys in rubber suits, which I don't understand since they're all anime.
Whereas the typical western mech, like from Mechwarrior, are so primitive in comparison it's laughable. They really only care about how many guns they can cram onto it.
But most of all I hate how all mechs are indestructable and overpowered like hell, seriously the Gundam mechs can turn into fairy dust and keep on fighting.

American mechs are the best. Don't get wrong. Japanese mechs are alright, but sometimes just too silly. American sensibilities shine really well when it comes to mechs.
Definitely Western Mechs, I don't like the eastern mechs since the humanoid look isn't something that really appeals to me in mechs.

Dude, Heavy Gear is probably the best media franchise where mechs are placed within the context of combined arms. The miniatures game is too expensive for me at the moment, but the 1st PC game was damn good.
